Main article: Episode 2102 - Just Wingin' It

The eighteen new chefs arrived in Los Angeles in two separate limos heading to Hell's Kitchen. The limos arrived at Hell's Kitchen, where Marino was waiting for them. Marino greeted the chefs and introduced them to their Sous Chefs Christina and Jason. They explained that there would be obstacles, but you can't let them get in your way. Later, Ramsay was on a monster truck and crashed into a car, shocking the contestants. Ramsay used it as an example of not letting anything get in your way. Ramsay explained like how the limos got them where they wanted to go, he wanted a chef to take him where he wanted to go. Ramsay was questioning whether to hire a chef in their 20s or a chef in their 40s and told them that this season would be a battle of the ages. Ramsay told the contestants to separate between a group of 20s and a group of 40s. Tara was happy that they split the 40-year-olds and the 20-year-olds because she felt like she was a better chef in her 40s and believed she could beat the 20-year-olds. Ramsay announced the Signature Dish Challenge and gave the chefs 45 minutes to cook their dishes.

During the Signature Dish Challenge, Tara was the fifth person from the blue team to have her dish judged by Ramsay and went up against Vlad. She revealed that she used to be a fashion designer until she was in a car crash. During that time, she felt like the kitchen was the only place she could go to. She presented a fennel-crusted pork tenderloin with a sweet potato purée, asparagus, sauté apples, and pancetta with bourbon jus. Ramsay praised the dish for a perfect cook and for being elevated, deeming the dish Tararific. She scored four points, and she said it made her day. The blue team lost the challenge after a tiebreaker at 31, and they were punished with delivery day and cleaning both kitchens. Before they started the punishment, she felt like the 20-year-olds did not know how to run a brigade. She thought she needed to show the 20-year-olds that they could cook because she did not want to lose again. During the punishment, she tried to emerge as the leader whether her team liked it or not. However, it became a struggle to figure out everything when too many voices were speaking.

The following morning, Tara was shocked to hear that somebody would be going home if they lost the second challenge.[1]During the Creative Chicken Wing Challenge, she did not want to be the first person to go home. She made an unknown dish and lost the challenge as she was not called as the top three.

During dinner service, Tara was seen serving Alex's Asian-themed wings in the dining room with Nicole. She was not seen that night, and the blue team lost the service. They were asked to nominate two people for elimination.

She was not nominated for elimination.[2]

Episode 3[]

Main article: Episode 2103 - Clawing Your Way to the Top

Back at the dorms, Tara told Billy to shut up and go to sleep when the latter loudly cheered for his safety as she wanted him to bring his A-game the following day.

During the Whole Lobster Prep Challenge, Tara said she cleaned lobsters her whole life and felt comfortable in that challenge. However, she struggled to get her second knuckle out. Although she was not happy about her performance, she hoped Ramsay would be gentle for at least having most of the lobster done. She was the second chef from the blue team to have her attempt judged, but she failed to score due to having no legs. The blue team lost the challenge 5-6, and they were punished by making seafood stock out of fish guts and separating the rice. During the punishment, a conversation about who got suspended at school occurred, though she said she never got suspended. When she began to have a minor spat with Abe, he believed she was antsy and the home-schooled teacher.

During dinner service, Tara was at the appetizer station with Abe. Although Billy confused her by calling out an order that had no risotto, she got her appetizers accepted. When the blue team got kicked out of the kitchen, she was fuming over losing again. The blue team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, she tried to back Billy up, but Abe came down on her for always having an opinion. That caused her to have a mini freak out in response.

Tara was not nominated for elimination. While being dismissed, she believed trimming the fat was for the best so the blue team could stop losing. Later that night, Ramsay called both teams back downstairs for a special announcement. He announced that come the following day, the battle of the sexes would begin. So, she, Mindy, and Nicole were reassigned to the red team.[3]

Episode 4[]

Main article: Episode 2104 - Slipping Down to Hell

Back at the dorms, Tara knew the forty-year-olds must prove to the twenty-year-old women they compete at a higher level.

The following day, Sous Chef Christina called the dorms and told Tara to have everyone outside in beach wear. As the chefs changed and went outside, she wondered what they would do. During the first part of the Creative Sliders Challenge, she found the men sliding down to be funny. The red team finished the fastest, and they received a five-minute head start. During part two, she and Cheyenne made the lamb sliders. She decided to make a slider version of a stuffed lamb meatball she had made back home and prayed it worked. When picking the representatives for judging, she was confident that her tzatziki was on point and had her dish featured on the judging panel. She was the third person from the red team to have her dish judged, and she went up against Vlad. She made prosciutto and blue cheese stuffed lamb sliders. The blue cheese component overpowered them, and Ramsay said that was why blue cheese and lamb did not go together. She scored two points and disappointingly said she did not want that on her first day on the red team. The red team lost the challenge 14-16, and they were punished by prepping potatoes for fries needed for the following service.

The following day, Mindy's self-esteem story touched Tara, which meant the former was finding confidence on the line. During dinner service, she was at the appetizer station with Cheyenne. After Sommer and Alyssa served raw lamb, a fuming Ramsay took the women into the pantry for a meeting, angering her as it was déjà vu. When Ramsay called the blue team over to help the red team, she was embarrassed by needing help from the men and blamed Dafne, Sommer, and Alyssa for getting them into this mess. The red team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate three people for elimination.

She was not nominated for elimination.[4]

Episode 5[]

Main article: Episode 2105 - Breakfast 911

Before the Emergency Workers Breakfast Service Challenge, Tara said her sister was an EMT for the army and said cooking for the emergency workers was an honor. She was at the sandwich station with Dafne, and she refused to go through another punishment. In the middle of service, Dafne did not know how consistent she was due to her being new, only for her to see that the former built the sandwiches incorrectly. She decided to build them herself while Cheyenne got worried. She and Dafne continued to bicker about the sandwiches, causing Ileana to say they should not be difficult. Still, the sandwiches were accepted.

The red team won the challenge, and they were rewarded with a Hollywood Hills party at a local mansion with a Korean Mexican fusion cooked by Kogi. Ramsay asked Tara and Mindy if they were desperate to get out of the restaurant that day, and they said they were after three straight losses. She was thrilled to go on a reward and not be in the dorms, but she threatened to cut Alejandro and Alex when Ramsay asked if they wanted to use their Punishment Passes. During the reward, she felt all the fat was gone and said she was stress-free for the first time in Hell’s Kitchen.

During dinner service, Tara was at the appetizer station with Alyssa. She was not seen that night, and the red team won the service. After elimination, she felt the women would soar over the men as they were the team meant to be.[5]

Episode 6[]

Main article: Episode 2106 - Til Chef Do Us Part

Before the Trenton and Macee Wedding Planning Challenge, Tara's wedding photo of her husband grabbing her garter was shown. During the cooking, she had an idea for the flatbread she made for her clients. She was the first person from the red team to have her dish judged, and she went up against Alejandro. She made flatbreads with caramelized onions, caramelized apples, baby arugula, and spicy honey. While Trenton liked the presentation, he and Macee found it tasted bland. Despite feeling that Alejandro's dish was too outside of the box, she lost that round to the latter. The red team lost the challenge 2-4, and they were punished by making a six-tiered Bailey's Irish cream cake for the wedding.

During the Trenton and Macee Wedding service, Tara was at the fish station with Cheyenne. When Alyssa was caught cooking too much collard greens, she accused the latter of being scattered-brained and dazed, ordering her to get garnish under control. When Mindy and Sommer struggled on meat, she was appalled by that as it was someone's wedding. After the red team got kicked out of the kitchen, she knew Ramsay was embarrassed about their miserable performance as it was Trenton's special night and called it gut-wrenching. Both teams were named joint losers, and they were asked to nominate two each.

She was not nominated for elimination.[6]

Episode 7[]

Main article: Episode 2107 - Wok This Way

Back at the dorms, Mindy and Tara talked about the twenty-year-olds on their team and how some of them had big egos. She was happy to talk with Mindy and said it would suck for the other if either of them went home. Mindy said they bonded through the losses and chuckled over their teammates' bickering.

Before the Dome Challenge, Tara was nervous about cooking in a wok as she had never cooked Asian food before. She grabbed tiger shrimp, galangal, lo mein, and garlic for her dish. When she grabbed galangal, she had no idea what it tasted like, so she decided to grate it into her sauce. She got excited when Stephanie Izard came to help Ramsay judge the challenge. She was the fifth person from the red team to have her dish judged, and she went up against Vlad. She made a garlic butter lo mein topped with sautéed shrimp, and it was nailed perfectly. She tied that round with Vlad, and the red team won the challenge 4-2. They were rewarded with a rooftop dance party and brand-new HexClad sets. During the reward, she knew Sommer would have loved it and found the silent disco a cool experience.

During dinner service, Tara was at the fish station. At one point, she did not respond to Mindy's questions about the scallops, which Cheyenne called her out on. Then, she walked up only one order of scallops when two were ordered. Ramsay ordered another order of scallops, and she got her mistake fixed. On entrées, she pulled off her halibut to prevent it from being overcooked when Ileana struggled on the Wellingtons. As Ileana struggled to find a decent Wellington from her pile, she was forced to send up her halibut as Ramsay did not want it overcooked. Although both teams were named joint winners, Ramsay still asked them to nominate two each.

Tara was not nominated for elimination. While being dismissed, she was spooked to be the only forty-year-old left in the red team, but she knew she must show them she was a force to be reckoned with.[7]

Episode 8[]

Main article: Episode 2108 - Game On!

While returning to the dorms, Tara was sad to see Mindy go home as she had her back. When she overheard Cheyenne wondering what would have happened if she was nominated instead of Ileana, she got upset as it meant her team did not support her. She went into the blue woman's bedroom, complained that she hated working with women, and felt they were catty. With Mindy gone, she felt alone against the red team.

During the Game Meat Challenge, Tara did not get gruyere on Kitchen Sightmares, but she successfully got parsnips later. During the cooking, she and Dafne cooked the boar, but near the end of the time limit, she sliced into raw boar, much to her frustration. Her dish was not chosen for judging due to her dish being undercooked. When it came down to the venison dish, she refused to do a fifth punishment.

The red team won the challenge 2-1, and they were rewarded with a bowling trip at Lucky Strike Hollywood and lunch provided by Vinny Dotolo and Jon Shook. However, Alex used his Punishment Pass on Tara, and she was forced to join the blue team on their punishment: pitting olives and making two pounds of olive tapenade and pesto. Alex thought she would be okay with this punishment, but she was not happy with Alex's decision. She did not look forward to doing her fifth punishment. Back at the dorms, she vented to Abe about how she had no one to talk with and felt that the women were gunning for her. Worse, she felt betrayed by Alex for using his Punishment Pass on her. Sommer tried to comfort her, but she accused the younger women of trying to get her out. Sommer felt she was getting inside her head as the former did not want to see her feel left out. When Sommer told everyone what she said, Alex felt guilty about his actions and tried to apologize to her. However, she rebuffed Alex. During the punishment, she told Sakari she was still mad at Alex, and as she grew hungry, she continued to bemoan about missing the reward and told Abe how much she hated catty girls. Even though Abe claimed not to come on the show to make friends, he admitted to respecting her after working the line with her a couple of times and said he had her back. When the women and Alex came by after their reward, she got offended that neither of them showed any sympathy.

Later that day, Ramsay called both teams downstairs, making Tara wonder what he wanted as she thought of every possibility. Because she did not have her dish judged earlier, she was forced to compete in the Cook For Your Life Challenge with Alejandro, Alex, Ileana, and Vlad. As the safe chefs went upstairs, she knew she had let somebody else get in her way of getting judged, and she paid the consequences. During the cooking, she felt her mind was running in a million places in the red kitchen, but she knew she must focus and compose one dish instead of a hundred. Sakari saw how nervous she was looking for pans, and Brett said she should not be asking these questions. She was the third person to have her dish judged by Ramsay, and she went up knowing her dish looked beautiful. Still, she was unhappy with the carrot puree. She made an airline chicken stuffed with thyme and lemon zest, carrot purée, basil and parsley pesto, and bacon fat cooked potatoes. Ramsay questioned the purée, and she thought the carrot purée worked with the chicken. The chicken tasted nice, and the sides worked as well, but Ramsay had an issue with the purée as it tasted dull. Still, Ramsay deemed her dish better than Ileana's, and she returned to the dorms as the second safe chef. She was relieved to survive and said she was holding her own against chefs who went to culinary school.[8]

Episode 9[]

Main article: Episode 2109 - Putting the Carne in Carnival

The following day, Tara was excited to see the HK Carne-Val as she loved carnivals due to childhood memories. Before the Creative Steak Challenge, she welcomed Brett as a new teammate. During part one, she went up against Vlad on the rib cap round, and they played whack-a-mole. She hit everything she could see and scored 31 points over Vlad's 28. She won a five-minute head start over Vlad, and during the cooking, she knew how to cook a steak and felt confident despite never cooking rib cap before. With four minutes left, she had Dafne taste her sauce, who said it needed salt. She was the second chef from the red team to have her dish judged by Ramsay, and she made a rib cap with Worcester, cumin and grilled corn salsa. The dish was beautiful and fresh, but Ramsay felt the steak needed more salt. She lost that round to Vlad.

The red team won the challenge 3-2, and they were rewarded with an overnight trip to the Paradise Point hotel in San Diego, where they stayed in the Presidential suite and rode jet skis. During the reward, Tara was thrilled to ride a jet ski in San Diego. During dinner, the red team began making a game plan for stations, but she was not concerned as she knew how to cook steak. Still, Cheyenne did not have confidence in her as she kept shutting down, and Brett did not know much about her.

During the Steak Night dinner service, Tara was at the meat station. When Ramsay told Brett to add salt to his scampi, it did not impress her as it was an easy dish. On entrées, she caused a fire to erupt on meat and got burned. Feeling she was being watched, she tried to calm down and bounce back, only for Dafne to be late on garnish. Dafne blamed her for being inconsistent in her communication, but she got her ribeye accepted. On the following order, she got scattered on orders, but she felt she could do it, only not to answer Ramsay's question for a time. Brett felt her lack of communication would doom the red team as dishes went to the pass. However, her ribeye was raw, frustrating Ramsay as Cheyenne's fears came true. Still, she got her refire accepted.

Both teams were named joint losers, and they were asked to nominate two each. During deliberation, Tara was nominated for elimination by Brett and Dafne. Cheyenne accused her of not being heard that night and felt that her lack of communication angered Ramsay the most. Still, she felt that her night was fine other than the two bad steaks. Now realizing that Cheyenne considered her a weak chef, she confronted the former's terrible attitude.

Tara was the red team's second nominee for elimination, with Brett as the first. They joined Vlad and Alejandro from the blue team. During her plea, she told Ramsay that she tried to do everything herself because she did not have the red team's support despite their claims that she did not communicate. However, when Ramsay asked for the red team's opinion, no one agreed with her. Ramsay was sad to see the red team giving up on her, but she was determined to bounce back and win back their trust. After listening to her plea, Ramsay called her up and sent her back in line as he had not given up on her as the red team had. She survived elimination, and while being dismissed, she swore she would bring her voice out and bring out her wrath on the red team.[9]

Episode 10[]

Main article: Episode 2110 - Everyone's Taco'ing About It

While returning to the dorms, Tara was glad Ramsay believed in her compared to the red team, as she now saw them as the two-faced people she thought they were. Sommer wanted to hold a team meeting, but she reluctantly agreed as she could not trust them due to the age difference. Sommer told Tara she did not give up on her as a teammate, but the latter knew she tended to get flustered in services. She was offended that no one on the red team had her back in the Elimination Ceremony, but Brett argued that they did not think she could communicate well. Still, she did not believe them and left, as Brett thought she had a poor attitude. Dafne feared it would be hard to work with her now that she had it in her head that she was alone.

During the Creative Taco Challenge, Tara cooked the shrimp tacos and decided to make a Baja-styled taco. She was the second chef from the red team to have her dish judged, and she went up against Sakari. She made beer-battered shrimp tacos with chipotle crema. They were deemed nice, but she lost that round to Sakari. The red team won the challenge after a tie at three each, and they were rewarded with playing in Zorb balls, eating gourmet tacos, and receiving brand-new Vitamix blenders. During the reward, she managed to stay on her feet during her turn, amazing Brett. During lunch, she was ready to forget about the past and move forward.

During dinner service, Tara was at the appetizer station with Dafne. She knew she would be gone if she did not perform and became vocal on timings. When Ramsay went to Brett to teach him about scallops, she earned the former's ire when she loudly asked for timings. Ramsay told her not to talk over him, and Dafne felt the latter did not understand how a line worked. The red team won the service.

At the Elimination Ceremony, Tara said goodbye to Brett as the latter was reassigned to the blue team.[10]

Episode 11[]

Main article: Episode 2111 - 21st Annual Blind Taste Test

During the Blind Taste Test, Tara was the second chef from the red team to compete, and she went up against Alex. She only got asparagus correct, resulting in Dafne getting both sauce dumpings. During Sommer's turn, she received all three punishments. The red team won the challenge 5-4, and they were rewarded with a trip to Horses of Hollywood for horseback riding and an Italian picnic. During the reward, she felt confident on a horse as she used to ride horses as a kid.

During the Charity Night dinner service, Dafne led Tara on cooking the eggs for the scrambled egg course. During the scallops course, she helped Cheyenne with plating. She was in charge of the spring pea and fava bean risotto, and Dafne warned her that her risotto would finish before the eight-minute window was up. So, she told Alejandro to be ready in seven minutes. She combined both batches, but Ramsay asked for the lobster when it came time to plate. Sommer brought them up, but they were clumped together, and Ramsay asked where the standard went. Still, she got the dish out. During the filet mignon course, Sommer told her to pull off ready steaks. After service, Sommer was named the "Best of the Best" in the red team. During deliberation, she told Sommer that she helped everywhere that night, but the only mishap she had was the lobsters. Sommer thought she did not delegate plating the risotto, but she argued that she did. Still, she knew she would be a nominee due to being the outsider of the women and told Sommer it was her call.

Tara was Sommer's first nominee for elimination, with Dafne as the second. They joined Brett and Alejandro from the blue team. Ramsay told her that it was her second time up in front of him and asked for her plea. She said she found her voice and had good services despite the lobster mishap. However, Ramsay reminded her that night's objective was to own her course, not be a prolific chef. She survived elimination. While being dismissed, she refused to let that night happen again and have her voice heard.[11]

Episode 12[]

Main article: Episode 2112 - What in Hell's Kitchen?

The following day, the Sous Chefs had the chefs prepare a display for some guests Ramsay invited. Once everything was ready, everyone saw skydivers drop down from the sky and land on the purple carpet they laid out. Ramsay introduced the chefs to the HK Fliers and revealed that they brought an important message to them. They turned around to show letters that spelt black jackets, exciting everyone as it meant the Black Jackets Challenge had arrived.

During the first Black Jackets Challenge, Tara made ricotta gnocchi with asparagus and brown butter sauce, claiming it was for her husband and her seven-year-old daughter. She wanted to show her heart on a plate, and she was the fifth chef to have her dish judged by Ramsay. She made a lobster and gnocchi with brown butter. Although Ramsay found the dish tasty, he felt she needed a sauce to tie it together. Still, she said she was doing it for her family and refused to leave without a black jacket. She lost the challenge to Sommer and Dafne and was forced to compete in the second challenge.

Before the second Black Jackets Challenge, Tara was not thrilled about making a new version of Ramsay's dish as she called it more stressful than childbirth. She got the Savoy Grill menu and decided to cook steak Diane. During the cooking, she tried to elevate the steak Diane by making it a steak au poivre and using sauces she knew how to make. She was the first chef to have her dish judged by Ramsay and presented her pepper-crusted pan-seared filet with glazed asparagus and root carrots with her steak Diane-Au Poivre mixed sauce. Ramsay deemed it a good effort as some areas needed to be refined, but he liked the elevation from New York strip to filet. That made her proud of her dish as she believed she was not leaving without a black jacket. She lost the challenge to Alejandro and Alex, and she was forced to compete in the final challenge.

Before the final Black Jackets Challenge, Tara had no idea what they would cook, but she refused to give up now after everything she had gone through. During the cooking, she felt her gut in her throat as everything was on the line, and she knew she must beat Cheyenne and Sakari. Still, she called it stressful. She made a double pork chop sitting on a bed of kale with bacon, onion ring, and a lemon sauce. After walking up her dish, Ramsay asked the three chefs to go to his office. Hearing that order confused her, and as the three chefs waited anxiously in the office, she refused to leave Hell’s Kitchen without walking out the winner door. Ramsay had the black jacket chefs judge the dishes blindly. Her dish was deemed the best in appearance by Sommer, and it had a better cook than Cheyenne’s dish. Dafne found the onion ring component interesting, and Alejandro found her dish interesting, but he mistook it for Sakari’s. Lastly, Alex found her dish to have the most well-rounded flavors and voted for her.

After the judging was done, Sous Chef Jason came to Ramsay’s office to bring the three chefs back to the dining room. As the trio walked downstairs, Tara was both excited and nervous about the results, as it was the biggest moment of her life. After Sakari was eliminated, she wanted to beat Cheyenne after all the times the latter called her weak, as she was a badass chef. She lost to Cheyenne and was eliminated. Before leaving, Ramsay told her she was a warrior for bouncing back and said she had a bright future. As she left, she received a retrospective montage during his exit interview. Ramsay did not comment on her elimination, and she did not receive the coat hanging and portrait burning sequence until the following episode.[12][13]

Main article: Episode 2116 - A Finale for the Ages, Part 2

Tara was one of the seven chefs that returned for the final dinner service. As she watched the Final Menu Challenge with the others, she called the challenge intense and felt anyone in the final three could win. She was Alex's final pick for his team after Alejandro, Brett, and Cheyenne. While she was shocked she was the final pick, she knew she was a hard worker and was happy Alex saw that.[14] As Alex went over the menu, he asked who would run the appetizer station, and she volunteered as she had operated that station before. Still, Brett was unsure about her running appetizers due to her crumbling under pressure. Alex felt there was a rift between them after the Punishment Pass incident, but he hoped she could cook good food as she was confident about her abilities.

During dinner service, Tara was at the appetizer station. She kept calling out one minute on her risotto, leaving Brett feeling she was too nervous for timings. While she knew the appetizer station would be a hard hitter, she wanted to get out of the gates strongly and win it for Alex. Her appetizer was accepted. On the blue team's final order, she hoped they did their best on the final ticket and wanted to see Alex win. Alex eventually won the finale over Dafne.[15]
