Season 4 of Hell's Kitchen aired on Fox between April 1 and July 8, 2008. Culinary student Christina Machamer, from St. Louis, Missouri, was the winner of that season and became Senior Sous Chef at Gordon Ramsay's London West Hollywood in Los Angeles, with a $250,000 salary.

- This is the only season to date to begin with an odd number of contestants with 15.
- As such, this is the first and currently only season where the teams are unbalanced at the start.
- This is also the first season with a number of contestants that is not 12.
- Season 6 would also have an odd number of contestant with 17, but initially started with 16, as Robert Hesse would rejoin the competition after participating in Season 5.
- This is the only season to date when a chef was called up by Ramsay as a nominee despite being on the winning team.
- This marked as the only season to this date where one contestant from each team is picked as a captain for their team in several dinner services.
- This is also the only season where Ramsay asked each team which menu was featured on that night's dinner services for some occasions.
- This is the first season where the red team won the opening night service.
- Consequently, this is also the first season where the blue team lost the opening night service.
- This is also the first season where a male contestant got eliminated on opening night.
- This is the first season where the blue team won the first team challenge.
- Consequently, this is also the first season where the red team lost the first team challenge.
- This is the first season where both teams won a dinner service.
- This seasons red team holds the record for the most consecutive dinner service wins out of every red team with four, including joint-wins.
- This is the first season to have two team switches.
- This season was originally planned to air later in the year, but was pushed earlier as a placeholder for shows affected by the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America Strike.
- This is the last season to date where Ramsay asked the black jackets who they nominate before he pick who goes to the finale.
- This is the first season to have six black jackets instead of five.
- This is the first season where contestants were eliminated walking to the front door, instead to the loading dock.
- Future Reappearances:
- Christina would return in Season 5 to welcome the recently crowned winner, and in Season 6 to welcome the challenge winners in the first black jackets challenge. She would then return in Season 8 along with Seasons 3, 5 and 7 winners Rock Harper, Danny Veltri and Holli Ugalde as VIP guests for the 100th Hell's Kitchen dinner service. Season 11 along with a team of returning winners to compete against the black jackets, and in Season 16 along with Season 12 winner Scott Commings to greet the Signature Dish Challenge winners.
- Jen would return in Season 18 to compete as part of the veterans team. Matt could've done the same when he was invited to return, but turned it down because his wife was pregnant at the time.
