The eighteen Young Guns arrive at Las Vegas on a bus heading to Hell's Kitchen, and they drove past the real Hell's Kitchen restaurant. The bus arrived at Hell's Kitchen, where Marino greeted the chefs. Marino explained that Ramsay created a museum to celebrate the past nineteen seasons in honor of the twentieth season. Giving the tour were Shakala and Sean, who led the chefs into the museum. As the chefs toured the museum, they saw photos of past contestants, jackets hung, Hell's Kitchen Wall of Fame, and lines from past seasons. Then, they see video clips of moments from the show. The last stop was an exhibit of the doors used to reveal the winner of each season. Sean said the final part of the tour was a documentary film about the show's history. However, the curtain pulled back to reveal an audience waiting for them and Ramsay on a stage behind them. Once on stage, Ramsay explained that the museum was meant to showcase the past, while the eighteen of them were the future. Ramsay added that the desire to become a chef was a dream for many young people, and food has evolved over the years since the show began. So, Ramsay announced that the season's winner would become his protégé and become the new Head Chef at Gordon Ramsay Steak at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. Afterwards, Ramsay announced the Signature Dish Challenge and gave the chefs 45 minutes to cook their dishes.
During the Signature Dish Challenge, Sam was the third chef from the blue team to have his dish judged by Ramsay and went up against Kiya. He made a Chilean sea bass with a blood orange Berblanc and risotto with dried porcini mushrooms and scored a perfect five for having all the flavors meld well together. He felt amazing afterwards. The blue team lost the challenge 28-30, and they were punished by taking in deliveries for ingredients to make stock.[1]
During the Alcohol Challenge, Sam knew how technical the balance of alcohol must be for the dishes and shared his pineapple with Antonio. He poured his alcohol into his pineapple pan for a flambé but failed to get one. Payton then showed Sam the proper way of flambéing it. While he was uncertain about using Antonio's ceviche for the blue team's Top Three, it ended up being used as time ran out. He lost the challenge as his dish did not make it into the Top Three. Back at the dorms, Antonio apologized to the men for serving Ramsay his ceviche, but he felt the former oversold it. Later, he mocked Antonio's bounce-back comments in the confessionals.
During the 300th dinner service, Sam was on the fish station with Jay. After Ramsay called out the first order of appetizers, Jay told him to fire the salmon. However, Ramsay and Sous Chef Jason were astonished as they were nowhere close to entrées. To add insult to injury, the salmon was raw. Ramsay asked him and Jay for an explanation. When it came time for the VIP order, he said he needed four minutes on the salmon. However, the blue team was kicked out after nobody had an idea of timings or what was going on. The blue team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, he admitted the fish was a mess from the start but felt he got it down afterwards. Jay agreed with him as the fish station had a system down.
He was not nominated for elimination.[2]

Back at the dorms, Sam wanted to drop it and move forward.
During the Whole Squid Prep Challenge, Sam was seen getting two of his attempts accepted. The blue team lost the challenge 14-16. They were punished by taking in seafood deliveries, breaking down 50 pounds of squid and shrimp, and eating calamari sandwiches. During the punishment, he wished Antonio would shut up.
Sam was on the appetizer station with Trenton during dinner service. He was not seen much, except for sending up Alex's chicken that turned out to be raw. However, it was the second raw chicken that got the blue team kicked out of service. The blue team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate two people for elimination.
Sam was not nominated for elimination, but Alex blamed him for bringing the raw chicken up to the pass during the men's discussion about the chicken gate. Still, he denied doing so. Alex blamed him for the raw chicken, and Ramsay called him down, joining the former, Jay, Antonio, and Trenton. He said he did not touch the chicken for Alex; he only pulled it out for the latter. However, Alex told him he should have felt it afterwards, to which he agreed. Ramsay now knew chicken gate happened because he pulled the chicken out of the oven and sent it up without checking. Then, Ramsay sternly told him not to commit to something he would not follow through on and sent him back in line. So, he survived elimination. While being dismissed, he was furious at Alex for blaming others instead of owning up to his mistakes and wanted the latter home.[3]
Episode 4[]

During the Paris Hotel Brunch Service Challenge, Sam was on the omelet station with Antonio. At one point, he asked for times on steaks, but Alex gave out inconsistent timings as he went from eight to ten. Later, he felt the men had a rhythm going and hoped they could pull it off. The blue team lost the challenge, and they were punished by preparing 600 boxes worth of pastries for different Caesar’s locations. He was annoyed by Antonio’s rising ego at the dorms and called him out for that.
During dinner service, Sam was at the meat station with Payton. After Antonio served raw scallops, Ramsay the men for their opinion, and he and Payton said it was raw. Later, Ramsay gave the men a lesson on organization by reminding him to drive the ticket and have Alex read the tickets. He reminded Antonio about the mussel sauce for the halibut and refused to have another terrible service in the blue kitchen. So, he got vocal at Antonio for the sauce but got annoyed by his arrogance. When he walked the Wellington, Kevin told Antonio to walk the halibut. However, Antonio needed ten more seconds, leading him to jump over and help impatiently. An embarrassed Ramsay said he would not have sliced the Wellington had he knew Antonio was late, but the halibut was eventually served. When Ramsay pulled the blue team into the pantry room, he revealed that Sam's lamb was raw, throwing it at him afterwards. Both teams were named joint losers, and they were asked to nominate two each. During deliberation, he said it was too late for Alex and nominated the latter and Antonio.
Sam was not nominated for elimination. After Alex's elimination, Ramsay reassigned him and Payton to the red team in exchange for Victoria, Emily, and Megan.[4]

Back at the dorms, Sam said the team switch sucked as he was not happy about relearning a new team dynamic. Despite that, Morgana and Josie were willing to work with Sam and Payton, though he said he would dish back any attitude the women gave him. He said he was not there to make friends as he wanted to win.
During the Emoji Jacket Challenge, Sam figured out Josie was making a fried chicken sandwich. When Josie asked for an opinion on her hammered chicken, he told her to start over. He made burgers and fries. He was the final person from the red team to have his dish judged by Ramsay and went up against Emily. His burger was praised for having a beautiful seasoning but criticized for dense minced garlic. He scored that round, and the red team won the challenge 4-2. He was happy to get out of Hell’s Kitchen finally. The red team was rewarded with a ride on the High Roller and lunch at Chayo.
Sam was on the appetizer station with Brynn during dinner service. As the red team got their first order, he and Brynn talked about appetizers. Despite not being a dream team, Brynn was pumped as they worked in a frantic way to Ramsay’s impatience. Despite needing more garnish on the flatbreads, he and Brynn got them accepted. When they began firing entrées, he reminded Payton that he was taking charge, but the latter felt confident as garnish was not complicated. Eventually, the red team was kicked out of the kitchen after multiple mistakes. As the red team walked back to the dorms, he was pissed he could not win a dinner service no matter what team he was in. The red team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate three people for elimination. During deliberation, he said that Payton serving the wrong garnishes proved the latter did not know the menu. When Payton made an arrogant comment about the team switch, he believed the former was over his head and felt his team switch argument was invalid.
He was not nominated for elimination.[5]

Before the Megan 21st Planning Challenge, a picture of Sam bobbing for apples in his underwear was shown. During the cooking, he asked for blood oranges in the red kitchen as he wanted to make a Sophisticated Summer dish to prove himself to the red team. He prepared one of the red team's three appetizers. He was the third person from the red team to have his dish judged and went up against Antonio. He made a Sophisticated Bite of Summer dish, a scallop over a blood orange crème. However, it was deemed a Scooby Snack by Ramsay due to the small portion. Still, Megan liked the lightness of the dish. He lost that round to Antonio and the red team lost the challenge after a tie at three each. They were punished by decorating the dining room for the party under the instructions of a strict party planner.
During the Megan 21st dinner service, Sam was at the meat station with Payton. He called out a flustered order, leading Kiya to get nervous about him and Payton on meat as both sucked in the previous service. He walked up the New York Striploin, but one of them was rare after Ramsay sliced into it. Later, he and Payton served their refire in the red kitchen, but it had raw white fat on the meat. When working on Megan's table, he asked for seven minutes, but Ramsay made it easier by giving them eight minutes. Moving onto their next order, he said his biggest obstacle was temperatures as Keanu and Brynn gave their two cents for the lamb. Then, Josie walked the lamb from the oven, and he hoped it was cooked properly. Unfortunately, it was raw, and Ramsay kicked the red team out of the kitchen.
The red team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, a pissed Kiya reminded Sam about accounting for rest time. He was agreed to be one of the three nominees of the red team alongside Payton and Josie.
Sam was the red team's first nominee for elimination, with Payton as the second and Josie as the third. During his plea, he said he was ready to fight and took responsibility for the problems on meat. He survived elimination. While being dismissed, he called it a horrible night and thought it was a wake-up call to bounce back.[6]
Episode 7[]
Before the International Cuisine Challenge, Sam welcomed Antonio as a new teammate. He was not thrilled to have Antonio on the red team, recalling how he got in the way of the blue team due to his ego. He picked French cuisine. He saw soccer balls flying at them during part one and was stoked to run around like a nut. He claimed filet for his French dish. He was the third person from the red team to have his dish judged and went up against Victoria. He made a filet with red wine veal sauce, it was praised for a perfect cook, and he scored that round over Victoria. The red team won the challenge 4-2. They were rewarded with a pool party at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino with a private Piff the Magic Dragon poolside performance. He called the performance sweet during the reward and was seen jumping into the pool with Keanu and Brynn wearing a flamingo ring.
During dinner service, Sam was at the fish station. He brought up his scallops in the red kitchen. Still, they were undercooked, angering Ramsay because he asked for consistency earlier. As the red team worked on the refire, Keanu babysat him because she did not want to get kicked out again. He admitted that his energetic personality got him in trouble a lot, but his refire was accepted. Both teams were named joint winners.[7]
Episode 8[]

During the Relay Challenge, Sam and Kiya were the first pair to enter the kitchen. They began prepping garnishes as he did not want the proteins cooked too far ahead. In the fourth round, he began making the red team’s vinaigrette. The red team won the challenge 3-1 and were rewarded with a zip lining experience at High Link, going over the Vegas Strip, and having lunch at the Strip Bistro Bar. As the red team walked past the blue team during their punishment, he noted how they struggled going through the trash. Still, he said he was glad to miss that punishment.
Later that day, everyone was back at the dorms relaxing from their respective reward and punishment. Sam recalled that Ramsay said they made it to the halfway point and wanted to keep it. Emily and Josie had a flirtatious conversation and told him that it was how vegetarians talked to each other when he asked if they needed a room. Ramsay decided to do one-on-one meetings with the chefs. He was the third person to have his one-on-one meeting. Ramsay praised his energy in life as he cooked since he was seven but noted that he hated to relax. He said it was true, and Ramsay suggested that he relax more to pull out his full potential.
Later that evening, Ramsay announced the Cook For Your Life Challenge and Sam was named one of the five chefs to compete in the challenge. He competed against Keanu, Josie, Victoria, and Emily. During the cooking, he focused on his dish as he did not want to go home. Back at the dorms, the other chefs made fun of his intense face. Four minutes left, he was concerned about the temperature of his meat after cutting it. So, Sam decided to rest the pork chop. He was the first person to have his dish judged by Ramsay. He was confident Ramsay would love his dish and expected to be back in the dorms. He made a winter-inspired pork chop marinated in an apple bourbon purée. Ramsay deemed the pork delicious but warned him about slicing it early as the juices would leak out. He argued that he did leave it to rest, but he understood Ramsay’s concern. Regardless, Ramsay said that he set the bar. He was the first chef to be safe as his dish was better than Josie's. As he went back to the dorms, he was happy to make it and was met with open arms from everyone.[8]
Episode 9[]

During the Spells Kitchen Challenge, Sam went up against Trenton. He did a clean sweep of the ingredients getting broccolini and keeping it for the red team's ribeye. Then, he sent the celery root to the red team's veal chop and kept the bell pepper to their sea bass. He cooked the veal chop with Josie. They were the third pair to have their dishes judged by Ramsay and went up against Steve. He made a brown sugar brined veal chop with rutabaga and celery root puree. It was cooked beautifully, and Ramsay found it delicious despite having the Berblanc component. So, he scored a point. The red team lost the challenge 3-6, and they were punished by baking bread for Ramsay's Las Vegas restaurants and churning butter. During the punishment, he and Antonio did the churning, but their work movements caused awkwardness towards Josie.
During the Charity Night dinner service, Sam was in charge of the mushroom risotto course. He led his team well on cooking their dishes and asked Josie to help him plate the red team's risottos. However, Ramsay saw that the red team was plating inconsistent servings of risotto. After Ramsay chewed them out, he felt the brunt of it and got back to work. He had the red team get the risottos all equal, and it was sent out to the table. Both teams were named joint losers, and they were asked to nominate two each.
He was not nominated for elimination.[9]
Episode 10[]

Before the Blind Taste Test, Sam was was not thrilled about movie dates as neither one could say something for an hour. During Antonio's turn, he got the caramel corn and nacho punishments. Brynn got antsy when he walked soaked in the punishments, while Kiya playfully fed him a nacho chip when he sat back down. He was the final person from the red team to compete and went up against Megan. He failed to catch up on the first two ingredients, and the challenge end prematurely. The red team lost the challenge 6-9, and they were punished by cleaning up the dining room and resetting it for that night’s service. During the punishment, he compared the mess to throw up. Josie did not like his complaining throughout the punishment and told him to grow a pair. Later, he knew that Steve had every right to be angry as Brynn stole his reward.
During dinner service, Sam was at the appetizer station with Brynn. At one point, he feared they would be screwed if Josie did not have it. When Josie sent up under portioned garnishes for the lamb, Ramsay brought the two to the pass and asked them for their coordination. Both teams were named joint winners, and Kiya was named the "Best of the Best" for the red team. During deliberation, Kiya told him that he and Brynn were not at risk of being nominated thanks to their performance on appetizers. She told the two that Josie was her target.
He was not nominated for elimination.[10]
Episode 11[]

The following day, Sam ruined a moment by asking what the proper ratio of cooking jasmine rice was, but that made everyone laugh in response.
During the Protein Match App Challenge, Sam cooked the New York striploin and went up against Trenton. During part one, he picked haricot verts and fingerling potatoes. When Ramsay announced the blind date ingredient, he said he never went on a blind date but was ready to see other women. During the cooking, he was the only chef still looking for an ingredient. He ended up picking one he did not recognize, only for Sous Chef Christina to identify it as pork jowl. He was not happy with the selection as he was lost on ideas, but Antonio told him to breathe. He was the final person from the red team to have his dish judged and presented his New York striploin with pork jowl. Richard Blais found the steak over seared on one side and did not like how he mixed the jowl into the corn. He did not score that round, and the red team lost the challenge after a two-point tie. They were punished by cleaning the dorms. During the punishment, he was disgusted by the week-old pasta water.
During prep, Sam was nervous in the red kitchen. During the Steak Night dinner service, he was at the meat station. Ramsay told the red team to begin firing entrées as he talked to his steaks and called them sexy. However, Brynn got grossed out by him as Antonio was ready on salmon. However, he asked for one more minute for his steaks, but Ramsay told Antonio not to let him slow him down. The two men brought up their entrées, but his New York striploin was undercooked. Kiya told him to focus on cooking instead of feeling the meat but hoped he would bounce back and get out of Ramsay’s crosshairs. On the next order, he wanted to make sure the chicken was good. He recalled how many people in the competition fell apart due to chicken problems, including Matthew’s pink chicken in the Alcohol Challenge and the infamous chicken gate during the second service. He was unsure about the cooking of the chicken but brought it up anyway. However, it came out dry and stringy, and Ramsay gave them a piece to try. Ramsay ordered a refire, and Kiya complained about babysitting him as he was frazzled. Then, his refire was burnt, and Ramsay had Marino look at it. Marino said it was not Gordon Ramsay Steak worthy and the rest of the team said they would not eat it. Ramsay pounded the chicken with his fist and ordered the red team to get it sorted out. Later, he was working on the third chicken attempt. Unfortunately, it was black, and Ramsay was getting frustrated by his poor performance. Ramsay told Marino to apologize to the table waiting for the order while demanding two proper chickens to his standards. He did not know why someone would order chicken on Steak Night while Marino apologized to the table on Ramsay’s behalf. Later on, he continued to struggle on the chicken and wanted to make sure it did not come out overcooked. However, Antonio said they needed seven minutes when he said six two minutes ago, much to Ramsay’s frustration. When the chicken came to the pass, Ramsay saw it was raw and asked Marino how long the table waited for their order. Marino said thirty minutes, and a disgusted Ramsay ejected the red team.
The red team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, Sam knew he and Antonio would be nominated. Still, he was ready to fight for his spot while Kiya suggested not throwing each other under the bus. He and Antonio agreed as the latter claimed it was not who he was.
Sam was named the red team's second nominee for elimination, with Antonio as the first. During his plea, Ramsay asked him if he was the weakest cook on the red team. He said he was not, but when Ramsay asked who he was, he struggled to answer due to the promise he and Antonio made. Frustrated that he was not giving him a clear answer, Ramsay turned to Antonio and asked him the same question. Antonio quickly said him, which Ramsay appreciated. He was eliminated for his problems on chicken that night and not giving Ramsay a proper answer when asked about who the weakest chef was. Still, Ramsay praised him for his effort and passion. During his exit interview, he thought Antonio deserved to be eliminated, but he owned up to his own mistakes and said the little ones were what ended things.
Ramsay's comment: “Sam struggled with chicken all night and then struggled to give me a straight answer. I had no struggle taking his jacket.”[11]

Sam was one of the seven chefs that returned for the final dinner service. He watched the Final Menu Challenge with the others. He was Trenton's final pick after Kiya, Antonio, and Brynn.[12] Back at the dorms, he asked Trenton if he had full reign over them, and the latter said he did. He asked when they would get to station roles, but Trenton snapped that it would happen eventually.
During prep, Sam overheard the criticisms Ramsay gave to Trenton's dishes and felt deflated over them as he thought they were ready. During dinner service, he was at the fish station. At one point, he sent up his hanger steak which was accepted. When Kiya served pink chicken, he was confused about her poor performance as she was better than that. Then, he served his trout. Quotes[]
- (About Antonio) "Antonio, he comes out and apologizes. He oversold himself and his dish."
- (About Antonio after saying bounce back for several times) "(imitating Antonio) "Ah guys, we need to bounce back, we need to bounce back, we need to bounce back, we need to bounce back though, we need to bounce back" Clearly, we need to bounce back. Stop repeating it!"
- (About Antonio) "It's an ordinance, and that Antonio keeps standing up and acting as if everything he did was absolutely perfect, and how everyone else was the failure, and that we let him down."
- (To Antonio) "Antonio, come on bro. You don't have it, don't keep saying, "yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah," and continue to shake the pan around, and fucking bobble your head."
- (When getting kicked out while being on the red team) "Again! Why is it no matter what team I'm on we get kicked out? I'm so tired of this shit!"
- (When Josie asks about a yardstick) "Yardstick? What would I have a yardstick for?"
- (While churning butter during a punishment) "Do I get cab fare after this?"
- "So you just gotta keep in mind that you're supposed to be pleasing and buy your food. The only way to do that is, 'Yes, chef.' and get back to working that food, and get it out."
- (After getting dunked) "Oh, the cheese and the caramel is just running straight to my crotch. It's great!"
- (After being eliminated) "Yeah, I'm definitely pissed. Antonio really fucked me over tonight. That's where the honesty was my demise. He's the person that should be standing here. But, you know, I'm not the type to push blame around. I'm the type to own up to it and, you know, learn from it. Little mistakes is what kills you, and that's what happened tonight.
