The Meal Course Challenge is a recurring challenge from Hell's Kitchen.
Overview[]
Before the challenge takes place, Ramsay will tell both teams the number of courses that he wants them to make. The teams then head to a local grocery store to pick up ingredients for the dishes they want to make for the courses. Once back at Hell’s Kitchen, both teams will cook their dishes, and present them to Ramsay. If Ramsay likes the dish, he will give that team a point. The team with the most points at the end is declared the winners.
The purpose of this challenge is to show inspiration to dishes for important VIP’s.
History[]
Season 1[]
On Episode 3, the challenge first took place when 10 chefs were remaining, five on both teams. Known as the Five-Course Meal Challenge, Ramsay told both teams that he wanted a cold appetizer, a hot appetizer, a fish entrée, a meat entrée, and a dessert. The chefs were taken to a local grocery store to shop for their ingredients where they had 10 minutes to shop, and had a $100 budget. Once back in Hell’s Kitchen, they had one hour to cook their dishes. Elsie beat Jessica on the cold appetizer round, while both Jeff and Ralph scored on the hot appetizer round. Wendy beat Chris on the fish entrée round, while Michael beat Andrew on the meat entrée round, and Mary Ellen beat Jimmy on the dessert round. With the score a three-point tie, Ramsay gave the red team the win as he felt their dishes worked well together. The red team went to a local pub with Ramsay for the night, while the blue team cleaned the dorms.[1]
Season 2[]
On Episode 6, the challenge happened when 6 chefs were remaining, three on both teams. Known as the Three-Course Meal Challenge, Ramsay told both teams that he wanted an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert. The chefs were taken to a local grocery store to shop for their ingredients where they had 20 minutes to shop. Once back in Hell’s Kitchen, they had one hour to cook their dishes. After looking at all three dishes, Ramsay deemed the red team the winners. They went on a Hollywood restaurant tour with Ramsay, while the blue team participated in Delivery Day.[2]
