I'm no longer just Jason. It's 'Jason, who won Hell's Kitchen and has his pocket full of money, and has to beat women off with a stick for God's sake.'

Jason Underwood was a contestant on Season 4 of Hell's Kitchen. He ranked in 13th place.

Jason was one of the most hated chefs in the history of the show due to his poor attitude, his inability to cook, and his somewhat out-of-date sexist humor. He was disliked immensely by mostly everyone on the blue team due to his quitter attitude. All of that notes, which led to his elimination.

Season 4

Episode 1

The contestants flew into Los Angeles to compete at Hell's Kitchen. Soon, the chefs met up on the bus going to Hell's Kitchen. What they did not know was Ramsay was in the bus with them, in disguise. Eventually, the contestants arrived at Hell's Kitchen, greeted by Jean-Philippe. After some hellos, Jean-Philippe claimed he was good at making an impression of Ramsay, which he did by calling out orders and yelling at them. After he did, Jean-Philippe asked Shayna and Jason to do their impressions themselves. He did the second half of the infamous lamb sauce rant, but Jean-Philippe thought it was weak. After that, Jean-Philippe called up the disguised Ramsay, who spoke in his natural voice. While the chefs were initially impressed by the acting, they quickly realized that something was up. Ramsay revealed himself, which excited every contestant. Dominic admitted that he did not see it coming. After that, Ramsay instructed the chefs to create their signature dishes as he wanted to see how well they could cook as well as they talked on the bus.

During the Signature Dish Challenge, Jason was the fourth contestant to have his dish judged by Ramsay. What he made is unknown, but Ramsay announced that it would not pass as something tinned in a can. When Ramsay revealed the prize, he said that winning Hell's Kitchen would make him the guy who had pockets full of money and beat off women with a stick. Then, Ramsay asked both teams to name a team captain for the opening night. While everyone on the blue team wanted to be the leader, Bobby ended up taking the role.

During prep, Jason said he did not want to lose to a girls' team, as he thought the only thing he would lose to a woman would be an ironing contest.

During dinner service, he was at the appetizer station. When Ramsay called out the first ticket in the blue kitchen, he noticed that he was missing. He was seen on the patio, smoking and picking his toes on his right foot. Ramsay went into the back store to scream his name so he would come. Craig compared him to a disappearing magician as he finally showed up and got on the appetizer station. He sent his first risotto to the pass, and when Ramsay asked if he tasted it, he let a big burp go. Ramsay asked the men to taste it. Bobby acknowledged it was terrible, leading him to start again and Dominic to bin his scallops. Bobby said that he sucked and thought he could run the entire kitchen himself. Then, he sent a burnt risotto in the blue kitchen, and Ramsay told him to sit down at the pass and eat it. That made him embarrassed, and he wished he was back home. In one of Ramsay's rants, the former accused him of not caring. Later, Dominic waited for his call. When a disgusting sauce was sent to the pass, Ramsay told the entire team to taste it and called it snot while throwing it back on the stove. After Louross breathed new life to the blue kitchen, he finally got his appetizers correct. He felt like a million dollars, but it was too late as most of the tables walked out of the restaurant.

The blue team lost the service, and Ramsay told Jason that he sunk his kitchen. Louross was named "Best of the Worst". During deliberation, Petrozza was relieved that it was over, but he disagreed as he knew he could be going home. He thought he did better than Bobby despite a poor night and hoped the latter had a foot up his ass. When Louross talked to him, he said he did poorly but so did everyone else. However, Louross knew he had a miserable night and was in a tough spot over who to nominate. Later, he told Bobby that it was them as nominees that night.

Jason was not nominated for elimination, but Ramsay told him that he dodged a bullet. Still, he promised he could do better. While being dismissed, he thought they embarrassed all the male chefs that night, but he refused to lose to the women again.[1]

Episode 2

Back in the dorms, Jason thought that he would have been called down. He asked Bobby if he was done taking it easy, and the latter said he was. He sarcastically said he loved getting yelled at that night but promised it would not happen again as he refused to lose to girls, especially little kids.

After a night with very little sleep, the contestants were woken up the following morning by the Sous Chefs. They held megaphones and told them to get outside immediately. Jason called it unpleasant. Arriving outside, Ramsay declared that any restaurant would have hit bankruptcy with all the food wasted on the previous night. Ramsay called over a dump truck and ordered them to take every wasted food and put it in the cylinders to give the chefs a better understanding of what they trashed last night. While they were going through garbage, he said it sucked. After a few minutes, Ramsay told them to get back in line up the stairs and declared they should be ashamed as they put thousands of dollars in the trash during the last service. Ramsay warned them to start giving a damn and told them to clean up and change.

During the 6-Ounce Halibut Challenge, Ben gave some tips to Jason, but he ignored the former. When a couple of pieces came out butchered, Bobby thought he was responsible for that. The blue team won the challenge after a tie at 41 each. They were rewarded with a day on a 100-foot superyacht and were transported in Rolls-Royce and Bentleys. When the blue team walked past the red team during their punishment, Jen started to yell, "Whose house?" and her teammates answered, "Our house!". He told them to keep their house as he was going to the ocean.

During prep, Jason was confident they would win because of the team's high spirit. Also, he thought the women had no clue without a man to lead them. Then, he declared that a room full of girls was useless unless they had a Tupperware party. Before service began, Ramsay sent him out of the pantry room as he wanted a private meeting with Petrozza.

During dinner service, Jason was at the fish station. At one point, he and Bobby argued over firing scallops. Ben and Petrozza tried to calm them down, but he thought Bobby blamed him for his mistake. On entrées, Ramsay saw that Jason's halibut was raw from the hot plate. Ramsay made him, Matt and Sous Chef Scott touch it, which angered Ben as he hated not sending out food. Still, Ramsay told him he was trying to help him as everyone else was ready. When a halibut he cooked came back for being raw, Ramsay turned to him and scolded him for serving raw fish. He denied it was his, but that was the final straw for Ramsay, and he shut down the restaurant. The blue team won the service.

At elimination, Jason was seen laughing at Christina's plea when she started to tear up.[2]

Episode 3

The following day, the contestants were awakened by chickens running around in the dorms. Calling from the P.A., Ramsay told them to get up, grab a chicken, and come down to the dining room. While trying to catch a chicken, Jason was still trying to wake up. During the Chicken Cutting Challenge, he boasted that the men would win because they were men, and it was not a dust and housekeeping challenge. After seeing Jen get two pieces rejected, he said it was not a wild game bird. He was the first person from the blue team to have his cuts judged. He was surprised that the women did well but believed the men would still win because butchering was in their blood. However, two of the portions were messed up, leaving Ramsay stunned. He finished with 6 out of 8 pieces.

The blue team eventually lost the challenge 24-44 after Craig butchered almost all of his pieces. They were punished by picking peppers on a 100-acre farm, wearing farmers' clothes and hats under the hot temperature of the sun. He declared he was chubby during the punishment because he liked food and did not do labor jobs.

Later that evening, Jason fell into the red team's trap after looking at Christina and Corey in the hot tub. Christina helped him take off his clothes, and he jumped in the hot tub with the women. They gave him some food and beer and asked him what was going on with the men. He answered that most of his teammates were mad at Craig for messing up during the challenge. Also, he said he did not like the way Ben ran his mouth. Ben was furious at him as the former felt he ratted out the team. The following morning, an angry Ben said he did not want to lose anymore, though he did not like the former's tone. Still, Ben knew he would doom them after that night and knew the women would manipulate them. Ben said he was not here to flirt and told him to work like a kamancha.

Ramsay dedicated Jason to the dessert station when the teams were lined up and jokingly told him not to eat any. When Ramsay asked him what the desserts were, he failed to answer correctly. So, Ramsay ejected him to the dorms and told him to read the menu. He did not join the team at the start of service as he studied the menu.

An hour and a half into service, Louross went to get Jason back, but he was about to give up as he did not like the way Ramsay was putting him in the spot like that. However, Louross convinced him to get down anyway and do it, which he did. When he entered the kitchen, Ramsay pulled him aside to make him recite the desserts. He struggled a little bit and even wanted to give up as he was at his breaking point. Ramsay asked all the men to come around him and asked him if he would like to go home, which the latter answered that he did and that he was done. However, Ramsay encouraged him, and he successfully recited the desserts before getting on his station. That made him realize that Ramsay did not want him to quit and was not done with the ass whooping. Later, he started to prepare his first desserts but did not know what he was doing, stating that women could make desserts. Louross helped him by telling him that his crème brulées were ready, which he did not believe. When he took his soufflés out of the convection oven, he said they looked like muffins stuck in a cup. When Ramsay asked him what was happening with the desserts, he told him about the problem. He suggested rubbing some sugar around the rim, mixed with butter and cocoa powder when asked what to do. When he heard that suggestion, Ramsay was so discouraged that he went to the hot plate and banged his head on the counter a few times. After multiple mistakes, both teams were kicked out after Ramsay called him hopeless.

Petrozza was named "Best of the Worst" for the blue team. During deliberation, Jason felt he would be nominated but said he would fight for it if it happened instead of putting his head down like some bitch.

Jason was Petrozza's nominee for elimination, and he joined Vanessa from the red team. During his plea, he said he still had a lot to prove and was trying to break out of his nerves. Despite acknowledging his poor performance on desserts, he said he helped the men in a fast way. Still, Ramsay compared him to a tortoise giving birth. He was eliminated for giving up before service and failing to bounce back on desserts. During his exit interview, he believed that Vanessa survived due to her crying fits. Still, he refused to cry as he was a man and planned on getting drunk.

Ramsay's comment: "I kept waiting for Jason to show me some energy, to wake up, but he never did. And that's why I'm putting him to sleep." [3]
