The sixth episode of Season 11 of Hell's Kitchen aired on Fox on April 9, 2013. In that episode, both teams took the gloves off, two chefs became waiters for their respective teams, and dinner service was so frustrating that Ramsay did something he never done before at elimination.
Elimination[]
Continuing from the previous episode, Ramsay eliminated Jeremy from the winning team, as his attempt at serving a sample plate was unforgivable. During his exit interview, Jeremy acknowledged that he brought the wrong plate but declared he would continue fighting and declared that he was a great chef.
After Jeremy left, Ramsay told the men that their reward was losing dead weight because they won. Zach declared that they became strong with him gone, and Ramsay warned both teams to get their crap together as he would start cutting dead weight. He concluded by reminding them they would be open for dinner service before dismissing them.
Ramsay did not comment on Jeremy's elimination. He did not receive the coat hanging and portrait burning sequence.
Intro[]
While going back to the dorms, Barret expressed surprise that Ramsay eliminated somebody from the winning team, even though it was a blessing in disguise as Jeremy was useless, and acknowledged that everything was happening for a reason. On the red side, Mary was glad to know that Ramsay thought she was better than Jeremy while considering it a chance at redemption. She added that she would prove herself during the next service.
Back in the dorms, Susan acknowledged that the mood in the women was low and hoped they would swallow their pride. Cyndi told that all they had to do was execute. Then, Nedra started to cry, though that Amanda was the only one who thought she should have been nominated and said she was not playing nice anymore. Amanda went to speak to Nedra, comforted her, said that she was not holding any hard feelings on her and did not want her to have hard feelings on her. It would be the downfall of not only Nedra but also the team well. Amanda also said that she wanted to remain friendly to keep the team's morale up and that she did not want any of her teammates to be eliminated. Nedra concluded by saying that she was not giving up and that she would fight.
Before service[]
Later that day, both teams went downstairs to prep for the next service, but in the red kitchen, Mary thought that she might be pregnant as her period was late and that she was nauseous. Then, she needed to go to the bathroom, but Jessica was unsympathetic, saying that there were no excuses and that she should get back on the line. Nedra said that Mary should get it together as she already had to worry about her own problems. After, Mary went to the bathroom with a pregnancy test, being excited if she was pregnant, but also worried as she would not know her faith in the competition if she was. After a few moments, she got back in the kitchen and announced to her teammates that she was not pregnant. Jessica said that she just wanted to cook and not deal with some other mess, and the women refocused on their prep. In the blue kitchen, Dan asked a lot of questions to Michael, who was worried about his food knowledge. Barret got annoyed and said that Dan should either man up or get out.
After a long prep period, both teams were given a short break and went back to the dorms. Jon declared that he liked the men at the moment, and Mary went to the fridge to take a snack. On her way, Zach congratulated her for fighting back when being nominated while saying that it was great seeing that. After Mary declared that the women loved her, Zach told her not to believe that. That angered Mary, and she asked Zach to shut his mouth and not talk to her anymore. She left, went back to the bedroom with her teammates while slamming the door behind her, making the men laugh. In the bedroom, Mary told her teammates that the men were acting like jerks and that she was pissed because they were trying to win by taking them down. Nedra could hear the men laugh, she was not happy about that and declared that she would go hammer time on them. Then, Nedra went to see the blue team, told them not to go and attack weak people, referring to Mary, and added that the ones who did it could suck a big dick. Jon declared that it was fun to mess with the women as he felt they were cracking. Nedra asked the men who was the one who attacked Mary. When the men answered that nobody did, she retorted not to say anything until they would win a challenge. Nedra also added that they did not want to mess with her as she was Mike Tyson, which made all the men laugh, Barret mimicked some punching moves. When Zach mimicked a ringing bell, Nedra declared that it was on. When Nedra went back into the bedroom, she was happy as they had nothing to say, like she thought. In the bedroom, the women convinced themselves to not cook with emotions unless fire or passion. Zach declared that he did not care as he was not there to make friends on the blue side. He also added that Nedra was trying to take the house down and guaranteed a win for the men, so it was on. Finally, the women were also ready to tear the men apart and blow their asses.
When both teams lined up, Ramsay explained that while they had some respectable moments so far, they were not as consistent as they should. The people taking the most punishment from it were Jean-Philippe and the wait staff. Then, Jean-Philippe went to the kitchen and explained that it was a nightmare as he was apologizing on his hands and knees to every table. After, a waitress came in and explained that she almost lost her job when one night, a table complained about her to Jean-Philippe, before they discovered it was because of the kitchen. Anthony felt terrible as he never been a waiter before and acknowledged that it could ruin somebody's life if you were a bad cook. Then, another waiter came in and explained a frustrating situation about one of his tables one time. Still, Dan was unapologetic as he hated waiters. Even though he acknowledged they were going through some crap, cooks were as well. Finally, Ramsay dedicated Jessica and Barret to the dining room as waiters for the night. Jessica was nervous as she never been a waiter in her life, but she said that she would do it for the team, and on his side, Barret declared that he had no time as it was taking a half-hour to get his hair done properly. Arrived in the dining room, Jean-Philippe was shocked by Barret's haircut and told Jessica to keep smiling as she might need it. Barret declared that his confidence level was very high as he was a waiter for six years, and Ramsay asked Jean-Philippe to open Hell's Kitchen.
Dinner service[]
When the doors opened, Jessica was already looking confused, not knowing what to do or where to go, and Ramsay told the problem to one of the waiters. She said that she was nervous, could not wait to get back in the kitchen, and took her first order of the night. Barret was slow to take his order on the blue side and was called a lizard by Ramsay. He yelled at Barret, saying he needed some tickets and that he needed him to show some energy. Barret delivered his first ticket, with Dan being eager to start service. Still, when Ramsay called it, he was dismayed by Barret's bad handwriting and showed the ticket to the men. So, he ordered Barret to rewrite the ticket, ripped the ticket, and ordered him and Jean-Philippe to go back to Belgium. In the dining room, Jean-Philippe told Barret that it was not rocket science. Barret was annoyed and said that he just wanted to grab Jean-Philippe and crush him like a fly, but he could not do that. Then, Jessica went to the hot plate, bringing her first ticket, but Ramsay was annoyed that she took very long to write it. Ramsay was annoyed by Jessica's bad handwriting and ripped the ticket. She revealed that she only went to school for six months while believing that her handwriting was not bad.
Meanwhile, Barret sent his second attempt at his first ticket, but it was still not acceptable. Michael called him a stupid asshole. Anthony said that the whole team was riding on his shoulders, and Ramsay ripped the ticket one more time, saying that if Barret made the next mistake, he would be history. Before Barret returned to the dining room, Ramsay said that his tickets looked dreadful despite his hair looking beautiful. Barret was tired of being taken down like that by Ramsay, got motivated by Jean-Philippe, and declared that he would write like a bitch if he had to. Then, Jessica finally sent her first ticket to the red kitchen, and Ramsay thanked her for it. When he called it, Amanda told Susan that she would wait on her call before dropping the scallops. Susan did not want to disappoint Ramsay after he asked her to lead the appetizer station. After stating that it was the most nervous she ever felt since the beginning of the competition, Susan called one minute on her risotto. Still, Amanda told her to slow down and dropped her scallops. When Susan walked with her first risotto, Amanda did not flip her scallops yet. While Amanda admitted that Susan was focused on her task, she had to wait for the other things to go up. Both the risotto and the scallops were accepted. In the blue kitchen, Barret finally delivered his first ticket to his team, being very happy. When the first ticket was called, Dan was confused as he did not remember if one or two orders of scallops were called and asked Ray and Michael. That annoyed Michael, who said Dan and Ray should get it together. Ray was annoyed by Dan's constant requests and asked him for a pair of tongs, which Dan gave to him, much to his annoyance as he wanted to cook also. When Ray brought his first scallops to the pass, they were overcooked. Ramsay was furious before berating Ray for having his senior moment every time they started a challenge or a service. He ordered him to get it together. Zach was disappointed as there were two of them on fish, Ray started over, and his second attempt was accepted.
With appetizers coming out of both kitchens, Susan was motivated to drive the team in the red kitchen. Still, she sent her risotto without letting anybody else fire their own food, which annoyed Amanda, who asked Susan to let know when she would be at two minutes on the risotto. Susan aggressively told her to pay attention, Amanda called it absolute horse crap. When Amanda sent her scallops, they were raw. Ramsay put a lot of pressure on her, told her to wake up, to put her scallops back in the pan, and her refire was accepted. In the blue kitchen, the men started to work on entrées. Still, Dan was highly annoyed by Ray taking total control of the fish station and not letting him do one single thing. Ray was also annoyed by Dan's behavior, saying that he should take his tampons, put on a red jacket, and cook with the women. Then, the two started arguing while cooking, which annoyed everybody who told them to focus on the food. Michael said that he could not take it anymore. Ramsay wanted Dan and Ray to stop fighting. When Anthony brought his meat to the pass, Ray did as well but realized that he forgot it was halibut on the order instead of bass. Ramsay berated Ray for forgetting the order, and the men were ordered to start the table again. Dan wanted to cook along with Ray but was pushed away one more time by the latter. That lead Ramsay to call them "dumb and dumber" and fuckwits, and ordered them to talk to their teammates before Anthony gave them five minutes. Barret had to deal with impatient customers in the dining room and in the red kitchen, Susan and Amanda were struggling to communicate. Still, despite that, the last appetizer was sent out. Mary was annoyed by the lack of communication, compared the two women to clams. When Amanda was ready to walk with her scallops, Susan said she was not ready yet, but she sent them to the pass anyway. When Susan sent her risotto a few moments later, it was undercooked. A furious Ramsay ordered them to start again. Then, Jessica went to the pass, Ramsay asked her what she was waiting on, which she answered she was waiting on table 34, and Ramsay ordered her to come into the kitchen. When he revealed that the table had been waiting for 32 minutes, he told Jessica to tell the team, but she started to smile while motivating, which Ramsay did not appreciate. She swore that she was not laughing, but Ramsay ordered the whole team to come, asked her if she wanted to go home, and she answered that she did not. Nedra said that everything Ramsay was saying was serious and that if somebody would laugh, they should throw in the towel. Susan sent her next attempt at the risotto to the pass, it was accepted, and the women moved on to entrées.
In the dining room, Barret apologized to many tables while making some of his customers laugh. When Barret entered the blue kitchen, Ramsay asked him to tell his team what he was waiting on, which he did. Ray said he needed two minutes on the halibut, and Anthony told him he had two pork and two Wellingtons ready. Then, Ramsay asked Barret if he understood how painful it was, to which he agreed, and Ray for a time. Ray answered that he was ready despite having a hiccup earlier before reassuring him that he had it. After, Michael sent Anthony's Wellingtons, and they were cooked perfectly, and the latter hoped that Ray would send the perfect halibut as it could not be that hard. However, the halibut was overcooked, much to Anthony's dismay. Ramsay berated Ray and Dan for screwing him after waiting for a long time. Dan declared that he was sinking with the ship despite not cooking at all. Ramsay complimented Anthony for cooking everything perfectly so far despite being sabotaged by somebody who was not even cooking meat. Ray and Dan started over one more time, and in the red kitchen, Nedra and Mary sent their first entrée to the pass, but the pork was raw. Jacqueline acknowledged the pork was raw at best, and Nedra declared she had another one ready and called six minutes. However, Ramsay asked what she was doing, Amanda said that they would kill the rest of the table, and Ramsay handed the table tray to Nedra. When Mary and Nedra said that their new pork was still in the pan, Ramsay was dismayed, asked if they found it funny. Mary answered that she was not laughing, but Ramsay said that they would have said that they would put one more on while telling that he wanted the truth from both of them. Then, Ramsay ordered Jessica to come back to the kitchen and Nedra to go with her and apologize to the table. Nedra acknowledged that she had to own up to her mess, went to the table, apologized, and gave them five more minutes on their pork to be ready.
In the blue kitchen, Ray was on his third attempt at the same order of halibut, he got a lot of pressure from Ramsay. Ramsay praised the Wellingtons and the pork for being perfectly cooked when Dan sent it, but the halibut was raw, much to Zach's dismay. Ramsay was furious and kicked the entire team out of the kitchen after Zach declared that Titanic did not have shit on them. Anthony was very disappointed as he had a great performance up to that point, and Ray was disappointed because he thought he had it. Back in the dorms, Sous Chef James visited the men, brought the raw halibut, and scolded them for making him look like a dickhead in front of Ramsay despite hanging 18 hours that day with them. Sous Chef James left by saying he could not work with them anymore, while the men were very ashamed. In the red kitchen, Ramsay warned the women that if they made one more mistake, they would all be kicked out and ordered them to wake up. After bass and garnishes were sent to the pass, Mary sent her lamb and Wellingtons. Ramsay commented on her slow speed, and Nedra declared that they finally got it. However, when Mary sent the pork, it was raw, and Ramsay kicked the women out of the kitchen.
Post-mortem[]
When the red team came back in the dorms, Amanda declared that being kicked out made one feel like the biggest failure in the world and that Nedra and Mary should get it together. Ja'Nel commented on how close they were to finish, but Susan thought that Ramsay was already pissed because of the men. Then, the phone rang, Michael picked it up, and Ramsay ordered him to get both teams downstairs immediately, which they did. Arrived downstairs, Ramsay declared both of them joint losers and asked them to nominate two people each for elimination.
During deliberation, Cyndi commented about the last raw pork, with Mary apologizing for it. Jacqueline declared that the meat station, referring to Mary and Nedra, were the obvious nominees. Dan put all the blame on Ray for the men, saying that the latter would never let him cook anything. In the living room, Ray was furious and called Dan a bitch for just standing there, but Dan heard him, did not appreciate, but Zach convinced him not to argue with him. Ray declared that the station was perfect and that he should not go home over some mistake. Then, the women heard Ray yelling from the other room and thought the men would fight. Dan came out of his bedroom and told Ray to shut up, and after saying he did not sound like a child, Ray responded that he sounded like a little bitch. The two of them argued over the disorganization of the fish station, with Barret taking a little part of it at one point before Zach calmed them down. Finally, Dan declared that if Ray wanted to throw him under the bus, it would be on like Donkey Kong.
Elimination[]
Susan announced Mary as the red team's first nominee, and Nedra as the second for the raw pork incident, and Anthony announced Dan as the blue team's first nominee, and Ray as the second, as their performance on fish was what sunk the team. The four of them were called down. During their pleas, Mary took responsibility for the raw pork. Nedra did not make an excuse and apologize. Ray convinced Ramsay not to give up on him, and Dan said he was a team player and tried to support Ray on fish. However, he and Ray had another argument before Nedra stepped in and convinced Ramsay that she wanted to be there. Then, Zach intervened and said that Dan was only talking and not accomplishing anything. He revealed to Ramsay that Dan was flipping the bird behind his back at the moment and adding that the team was sick and tired of that kind of attitude. With everything said, Ramsay declared that he had the right nominees.
After much thinking, Ramsay ordered all four of them to take their jackets off. After announcing that he would do something he has never done before, the episode ended as a cliffhanger.
