Main article: Episode 1902 - Shrimply Spectacular

The eighteen new chefs arrived at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas as Ramsay wanted them to see the first official Hell's Kitchen Restaurant. Marino greeted the chefs at the front doors and took them inside the restaurant. As the chefs drank champagne, they got to know each other as Cody revealed that people disliked him for his cocky attitude but felt confident and had no fears. Eventually, Ramsay came in, explained that the Hell's Kitchen Restaurant was built on the show's eighteen-season legacy, and revealed that it was one of the highest-grossing restaurants in America. Ramsay revealed that he brought them to the restaurant for inspiration because the winner of that season would become the Head Chef at the brand-new Hell's Kitchen Restaurant in Lake Tahoe. Ramsay admitted that they would not be competing in the real Hell's Kitchen restaurant due to the demand, so they would be going to Los Angeles to compete. The chefs returned to the bus to head to the airport, Marino handed out the tickets, and once arriving at the strip, they see a helicopter revving up, with Ramsay taking it and flying off. After some time, the chefs were called in for boarding, but as the chefs walked through the doors, they found themselves standing inside the restaurant. Then, Ramsay appeared in his chef jacket and revealed that for the first time in the show's history, Hell's Kitchen would take place in Las Vegas and had some performers do some shows for the chefs. While the chefs could not do any of the tricks they saw, they reaffirmed that they could indeed cook to Ramsay.

Before the Signature Dish Challenge, Cody disagreed with Sous Chef Christina's need to keep the red kitchen's winning streak strong. When asked what his signature dish would be, he said he was making a Japanese fried chicken. However, when Ramsay revealed that he would be testing their abilities on new signature dishes, he was down for it. He went up against Syann, they were the fifth pair to play for their ingredients, and they received filet, cauliflower, and yam. During the cooking, he got dismayed when Ramsay called Kenneth over after the latter finished plating when there were twenty minutes left. He was the second person from the blue team to have his dish judged by Ramsay and was confident that his dish would become his own signature. He made a filet with poached yams and oven-roasted cauliflower, but it was criticized for looking like a mess, much to Lauren's humor as she was annoyed by his arrogance. Despite having great flavors, he received three points for the bad presentation alone. When Kenneth received only one point, he felt that the rest of the men should have helped the former more.

The blue team won the challenge 28-27, and Cody felt they deserved their victory and that the women should be worried. They were rewarded with dinner at Gordon Ramsay's Steak, with Ramsay himself joining them and riding the High Roller. During the reward, he liked not being in the women's shoes right now.[1]

During the Creative Shrimp Challenge, Cody could not tell what Sous Chef Jason's opinion was due to the latter's lack of comments, but he was happy with how his dish turned out. He was one of the top three chefs from the blue team from Sous Chef Jason, which surprised him as he thought the latter hated him. He was the second person to have his dish judged by Ramsay and presented his spot prawn tartare and blue prawn dish, feeling that it was fucking banging. Ramsay felt that the dish looked like it was cooked in sixty minutes rather than thirty and deemed it better than Amber's dish. However, he lost the challenge after Lauren dethroned him.

During dinner service, Cody was on the garnish station with Eliott. When Drew told him that his lamb would be ready in three minutes, he hoped it was a realistic three minutes, much to the former's irritation. Later, he walked up the fries needed for the order, but they were soft, and a pissed Ramsay kicked the rest of the men out of the kitchen as he and Sous Chef Jason finished the order themselves. As the men walked back to the dorms, he said that this was the first time he never completed service and called it an epic failure in his career. The blue team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, he got frustrated when Eliott blamed his poor performance on a lack of direction, as they all had a sense of direction, which meant it was not the latter's time to compete.

Cody was not nominated for elimination, but when Elliot said that they had skills in different places after being asked if he was better than his fellow nominee Drew, he got irritated. When Elliot finally said he was worse than Drew and was eliminated, he was delighted, and while being dismissed, he was feeling confident now that the weak chefs from the men were gone.[2]

Main article: Episode 1903 - Hell Caesar!

During the Caesar Salad Challenge, Cody said he was not scared about riding a motorized scooter. He was seen presenting one attempt to Ramsay, but it was rejected for being dry, frustrating Josh. Just as he was about to complete his laps for his second attempt, Syann scored the winning point for the red team, and the blue team lost the challenge 8-10. They were punished by prepping and peeling Scotch quail eggs for Ramsay's Caesar salad dish as it would be featured in that night's service. During the punishment, he and Marc had twenty quail eggs prepped, but after Sous Chef Jason chewed out the men for wasting product after seeing Marc's bin, he told the latter what happened as Marc was out of the kitchen during that time.

During dinner service, Cody was on the fish station with Peter. As he dropped the scallops, he was determined to listen to Ramsay and adjust to the latter's standards. However, when the order came to the pass, he served two orders of scallops instead of one, and to make things worse, they were raw. Ramsay called for a refire and ordered the men to get their heads out of their asses and focus, while Marc accused him of putting the men in the weeds. Later, he accidentally cooked two servings of scallops again, causing Marc to accuse him of not knowing how to count. A pissed Ramsay had him call out the order to get it straight, and Marc was left aggravated at his mistake. Despite that, he got his third attempt accepted, and they went to Dan Reynolds' table. On, entrées, he knew he had to nail the order or else he was gone, only to walk up a raw salmon. Ramsay accused them of having the wheels fall off, and Marc told him to own up to his mistakes. Fortunately, his refire was accepted, and the men got their order out. The blue team won the service.[3]

Episode 4[]

Main article: Episode 1904 - Wedding Bells In Hell

Before the Wedding Brunch Service Challenge, Cody counted 30 couples in the crowd and saw multiple couples in costumes. He was on the buttermilk waffle station with Peter, was not seen much, and the blue team lost the challenge. When Declan and Marc began to argue, he and Peter tried to get them to stop, with him reminding them that they had couples watching them from the dining room. They were punished by making 600 cupcakes for the wedding couples, and during the punishment, he remarked he did not know how hard it would be. Then, he noted how everybody is getting more irritated when he saw Josh complaining.

Before dinner service, Ramsay announced that Drew would not be coming back to the competition, and Cody welcomed Amber as a new teammate. During dinner service, he was on tableside. He was not seen much, except for hoping they get the VIP order out and move forward. Both teams were named joint losers, and they were asked to nominate two each. During deliberation, he noted that while Peter had a poor performance, he felt what fucked them that night was a lack of respect between each other. Then, he compared Marc and Declan to two bulls clashing around and had no idea how the blue team will work with them around any longer.

Cody was not nominated for elimination, but when Marc used his plea complain about the other station problems, he shook his head and told Ramsay that all he heard from the former was finger-pointing.[4]

Episode 5[]

Main article: Episode 1905 - Hell Starts Taking Its Toll

Back at the dorms, Cody took Marc aside and scolded him for using his plea to blame everybody instead of trying to make a case to stay, but the latter called himself a fighter and refused to go into a forced argument with the former. He argued that he was concerned about Marc due to his attitude, but the latter rudely brushed him off, called his team full of shit, and was prepared to defend himself.

During the Mexican Cuisine Challenge, Cody paired up with Declan due to having more experience in Mexican cuisine. They were the last pair to collect their ingredients for their chicken Chile Relleno, but the blue team lost the first part of the challenge, and they had only 40 minutes to cook their dishes. During the cooking, he decided to flour their beef for the Chile Relleno, and Declan allowed him to take the lead. They were the final pair to have their dish judged and went up against the pair of Kori and Mary Lou. They made a braised chicken Chile Relleno, but Aarón Sanchez got frustrated as they did not make the batter in a more traditional route, comparing the coating to panko crust and Mary Lou said it looked like a fried avocado. Ramsay reminded them that they were looking for authenticity, and neither pair scored a point.

The blue team won the challenge after a two-point tie, and they were rewarded with a spa day at the Voie, located at the Paris Hotel, with Ramsay asking Cody if he had a facial lately. However, Syann used her Punishment Pass against him, and he was forced to join the red team in their punishment, which was cleaning the animals in the pen, scoop up the manure, and clean up the hay bales before that night's dinner service. While going back to the dorms, he expressed surprise that Syann did not use it on Marc, but he did not give a fuck about his situation as he was no stranger to punishments, and he loved animals. Then, he recalled the bickering Amber and Marc had. During the punishment, he and Mary Lou cleaned the pigs, and he managed to calm his down, leading the latter to comment that she was starting to like him more than the first time she saw him. Later, he and the red team gathered the hay, but when he saw Lauren standing around doing nothing, he asked Kori if that happened at dinner services. As he saw Lauren stand around and do nothing all day, he got a little offended when she felt they did a good job.

During dinner service, Cody was on the meat station with Adam. He was not seen much, except for explaining to Peter how to cook the tomatoes. Although both teams were named joint winners, Ramsay asked both teams to name one person each. During deliberation, he did not believe Marc's comments about Amber to be true and found the former's statement completely hypocritical as the only thing the latter needed was a mirror. He refused to vote for Amber but said he was stuck between choosing either Marc or Josh as he reminded the latter about his broken halibut. Marc felt that they were nominating him based on political views, but when he asked the former if that was true, Marc cut him off in the middle of his question. That made him angry, leading him to call Marc out on that along with being super aggressive and asked if he was accusing the entire team of lying about the same thing they have been saying all along.

He was not nominated for elimination.[5]

Episode 6[]

Main article: Episode 1906 - Metal & Marina

During the Modern Italian Cuisine Challenge, Cody went up against Jordan, and he smashed a guitar to reveal seafood risotto as their dish. During the cooking, he asked Sous Chef Jason if he played any musical instruments, but the latter commented that he only played the spatula and the tongs before revealing that he has kept his blue hair for twenty-three years, something he admired. Later, Adam found his risotto to be burnt, but he felt that the toasting would add a nice texture, telling the former that he will still serve it despite Adam's reservations. After seeing Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo come in as guest judges, he got a little nervous. He was the fifth person from the blue team to have his dish judged and presented his seafood risotto in a Northern Spain style. Although it was praised for perfectly cooked seafood, it was criticized for an unappealing texture on the rice, nearing the point of undercook, and he scored four guitars. The blue team won the challenge 33-28, and they were rewarded with riding in muscle cars with professional drivers and eating an Italian meal at the Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant. As they went back to the dorms, he excitedly exclaimed how pumped he was about the reward.

During the Italian Night dinner service, Cody was on the appetizer station with Declan. At one point, he got confused after seeing Amber's frazzled performance. Then, when Josh struggled on garnish, he and Declan talked smack behind his back. The blue team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, he considered Josh for having garnish being sent back, but while the latter argued that he fixed upon the seasoning on the garnishes and felt that nothing he sent upheld up the line, he argued that it did. Afterwards, he considered Josh and Amber for elimination, the latter because of her problems with fish, but while Amber said that it was her first poor performance of her run, he said he was basing it off of that night. Later, he reminded Marc of the times he froze up on callbacks.

Cody was not nominated for elimination, and while being dismissed, he compared that night to Old Yeller before proclaiming that he was there to win.[6]

Episode 7[]

Main article: Episode 1907 - A Pair Of Aces

Back at the dorms, Cody received a back massage from Syann before she moved onto Amber. Later, he left the patio to check his blood pressure after seeing Lauren and Mary Lou enter the hot tub.

During the Protein Identification Challenge, Cody was paired up with Marc, were the first pair up, and they grabbed the pork and mussels dish. Their first attempt was clams and chicken, but it was incorrect, and he found out that things were not what they seemed. Then, they got half right on turkey and mussels, but they got the right meat protein on their third attempt. During Declan and Adam's turn, he screamed at them to grab the snapper again, but they grabbed monkfish instead, and it was incorrect. The blue team lost the challenge after failing to beat the red team's 8 minutes and 46 seconds, and that pissed him off as he screamed snapper so many times to them.

The blue team was punished by deshelling crab and prepping them for crab cakes for that night's service. Cody knew they dropped the ball and felt there was no trust in the blue team, and back at the dorms, he asked Declan to join him on the patio for a smoke. However, Amber felt they did that to avoid her, especially since he does not smoke. Amber confronted him, Adam, and Declan for having a team meeting without her, but they argued that they were just having a smoke, and Declan told Amber not to listen to the red team because they are trying to manipulate her. During the punishment, he asked what would happen if the blue team lost another teammate that night, but Adam knew another woman would join them. Amber felt that it was not a good mindset, but he was still concerned because if that happened, that woman would team up with Amber.

During dinner service, Cody was on the appetizer station with Marc. He was not seen much, except for feeling that the blue team was working well as a team with perfect communication before hoping they kept it up. The blue team won the service after completing the red team's tickets.[7]

Episode 8[]

Main article: Episode 1908 - Crapping Out in Hell

During the Craps Challenge, Cody rolled twice for the blue team. On his first attempt, he landed on H and called out haricots verts. He rolled an S and picked serrano as he felt the blue team was missing a heat component on his second attempt. During the cooking, he decided to make a schnitzel in the same way he learned in Germany, but Sous Chef Jason warned him not to brown his butter too much. He was the third chef from the blue team to have his dish judged by Ramsay and presented his pork schnitzel with a herb salad, pickled haricot Verde, and fried celery root. Ramsay praised the cook of the pork, and he scored a perfect 5. When the score was tied at 19 each, Ramsay called up his dish as the best of the blue team and went up against Nikki's dish. In the end, Ramsay gave him the edge as he rarely saw a schnitzel that good, and the blue team won the challenge, making him happy that he and the blue team got to go and celebrate.

The blue team was rewarded with high wire lessons with Absinthe and a special lunch at Nobu. During the reward, Cody went up first for the lesson, and then, the platform under him rose to the high wire, relieving Declan. When he saw Marc do his lesson, he said the latter was dancing the bachata. During lunch, he compared Marc's lesson to salsa dancing and felt the blue team was coming together.

Later that day, Ramsay told Cody that because he had the best dish of the blue team during the Craps Challenge, he must host private interviews within the blue teams and nominate two members for elimination. That made him feel uneasy as the burden of picking people for elimination fell on his shoulders, and he felt that the lovely day he had with the blue team made it more difficult. Back at the dorms, he told Marc that while he respected him, he felt that it was a hat draw and said that the competition pushes them. Marc agreed with that as he was the guy with all the answers back home, but after being that person in the first couple of days, he took a backseat and felt Hell's Kitchen turned him into a better man for his family. Later, he told Amber that while she was a strong cook, he felt the competition was starting to get to her. Amber argued that Ramsay knew she could cook, thought that he was not seeing her positive traits out of fear, and felt that Adam should go up instead as she did not see him as a strong cook. While he agreed with that, he told Adam what Amber suggested, making the latter feel that she was crazy. Adam argued that he has strived in dinner service while Amber has struggled ever since she moved to the blue team and told him that if he put him up for elimination, it would make him look stupid in front of Ramsay.

Cody named Marc as his first nominee, and Amber as his second, forcing the two in the Cook For Your Life Challenge. While he was happy to see Amber survive the challenge, she warned him to never do that to her again before demanding a beer from him.[8]

Episode 9[]

Main article: Episode 1909 - Blind Taste Test

Back at the dorms, Cody reminded Adam that he could have been in Amber's shoes that night, but the latter believed that he would not have gone home if that did happen. Although he warned Adam not to get cocky, the latter felt that he was already in the top two of the competition as he was making everybody think he was not a threat until it was too late.

During the Blind Taste Test, Cody was the fourth person from the blue team to compete and went up against Jordan. He could only get celery and pineapple, and Amber got both the ice cream and chocolate sauce dunk. During Marc's turn, he got the ice cream dunk. The blue team won the challenge 10-8, and they were rewarded with a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon and an overnight stay at the Caesar Palace's private villa. During the reward, he asked if riding in a helicopter was how Ramsay rides every day, and after entering the villa, he said that the walkway alone was bigger than his Los Angeles apartment.

During the Steak Night dinner service, Cody was on the meat station. He knew that he would have the most traffic of that night, but while he tried to talk to Adam on timings, the latter ignored him. That irritated him as Adam should be the most talkative due to being on garnish, and Ramsay was getting frustrated by the lack of communication. Then, he accidentally served two New York striploins when only one was needed along with a chicken, and to make things worse, he forgot to cook the filet, angering Ramsay. Despite that, he got his missing filet accepted.

The blue team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, Cody knew that the deliberation would be interesting, while Adam considered him for elimination for the misread order being sent up. While he took accountability for that, Amber reminded him of how Kori led the red team on meat and felt he should have done the same. However, he argued that he went down because of fish and garnish and considered Marc and Adam for elimination, the latter for not leading.

Cody was not nominated for elimination, and while being dismissed, he felt that Marc had no choice but to fuck off.[9]

Episode 10[]

Main article: Episode 1910 - There's Something About Marc

Back at the dorms, Declan wanted to talk that night out, but Marc refused to, leading Cody to snap that he sure was not. Despite Amber's best attempts to calm the mood down, Marc confronted him and said he would continue to fight no matter how many times he was nominated, but he argued the former was lying to Ramsay. As the two continued to argue, the red team heard it from the hallway, leading Mary Lou to wonder if they should open the doors. Declan and Amber tried to defuse the argument, but Marc told him not only was he still here, but he was also going to go the distance as he was motivated after that night. As he and Marc continued to argue, the red team listened on in awkwardness, with Nikki hoping they would not turn out like that.

During the Five Protein Burger Challenge, Cody grabbed ingredients he knew would work with his burger and told Amber what ingredients should go where for their burgers. After part one was finished, he was feeling happy about the blue team's choices. During the cooking, he cooked the turkey burger and worked with Amber on the blue team's lamb burger. Amber felt they worked well together as the two proceeded with no issues on the lamb burger. After Marc lost the salmon round, he said that anybody would know how hot a whole jalapeno pepper was. He was the third person from the blue team to have his dish judged, went up against Nikki, and knew that the cook of his burger was perfect. He made a turkey burger with burrata brulée and salsa Verde, and it was praised for having the right idea, even though Laurent Tourondel suggested that adding cilantro could have balanced the dish out even further. He scored that round over Nikki, and he felt confident on the last two burgers. On the lamb burger round, he presented the blue team's dish, a lamb burger mixed with mustard seed and balsamic with a manchego topping, and went up against Mary Lou. Although Tourondel found it fresh and getting the acidity of the mixture, he lost that round to Mary Lou, and the blue team lost the challenge 2-3. The blue team was punished by prepping 500 pounds of potatoes for a pomme purée and drinking an all-burger milkshake for lunch. During the punishment, he said that Amber had to be a strong woman when she refused to drink her shake.

Before dinner service, Cody placed himself on the garnish station. While working on the twelve-top table, he offered to cook the risotto for Marc as the latter focused on the carbonara, but he could not find the capers as the latter was disorganized. So, he decided to lead Marc on the appetizer station by holding his hand and walk him like an infant child. Then, Declan discovered Marc's flat top was off the entire time, causing the latter to accuse him of turning it off when he cooked the risotto. However, he knew Marc was clutching at straws now and was shut out by the latter when he tried to offer input on the risotto. Then, Marc walked up a raw risotto and curdled carbonara, and after Ramsay showed the blue team the poor dishes, he reminded Marc to listen to him. On entrées, he tried to tell Declan to give him more time on the garnish, but the latter did not listen and walked up his meat anyway.

The blue team lost the service, and they were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, Cody reminded Declan that he walked up the meat when he needed more time on garnish, and felt he kept the boat afloat for most of that night, something Amber questioned. He told Marc that he was his nominee for elimination, but the latter called him full of shit and once again accused him of turning off his oven. However, he denied that.

When Cody announced the nominees for the blue team, he named himself the second nominee and Marc the first. When a stunned Ramsay asked why, he explained that he wanted to be the voice of the blue team and was prepared to fight for his place. Ramsay allowed him as a nominee, and during his plea, he said he was very team-oriented and was trying to keep them alive since the beginning, feeling he had what it took to run Hell's Kitchen at Lake Tahoe. He survived elimination, and while being dismissed, he knew he had to refocus on things and hoped Ramsay saw the potential inside him, but at the same time, he was relieved to see Marc finally out.[10]

Episode 11[]

Main article: Episode 1911 - Sink or Swim

Back at the dorms, Cody and Mary Lou were playing cards with the latter beating him. The two acted friendly throughout as he called Mary Lou pretty, and the latter found him to be nice.

Before the Spells Kitchen Challenge, Cody realized that they could use the ingredient to sabotage the other team after Ramsay explained the rules, calling it a fun twist. During part one, he went up twice. On his first attempt, he got eggplant, but he failed to get any ingredients on his second attempt. When it came time to decide on which protein to cook, he decided to cook the halibut, and although he felt that the pineapple would overpower the rest of the halibut dish, he knew he could make it work. During the cooking, he felt excited with his pickled pineapple vinaigrette and felt his halibut dish would be fire, but Amber warned him not to get too cocky. When Amber's ribeye stuck to the bottom of her top pan, he tossed her a spatula to scrape it off. He was the final person from the blue team to have his dish judged by Ramsay, went up against Mary Lou, and knew it came down to him as he presented his chilli flaked halibut with a pickled pineapple vinaigrette and grilled pineapple. Ramsay knew the cook on the halibut was perfect because it cut through like butter, and while he found it too heavy on the flakes, he was amazed at how well he utilized the pineapple. He won that round over Mary Lou, the blue team won the challenge 3-2, and he got pumped up.

The blue team was rewarded with a pool day at the Linq and an all-American barbecue lunch and received brand new Vitamix blenders. During the reward, Cody was dismayed when a lightning storm hit as they could not use the pool, but during lunch, he understood Declan's story as he knew putting more effort into their passion showed in the result as he got more serious when he left home and needed to pay rent. Then, he said that cooking had changed his life as he looked around the world and in front of many influential people.

During the Charity Night dinner service, Cody was in charge of the spring pea risotto course. He knew it was not the night to fuck up, Amber had him taste her attempt, and he told her to add more greens to balance out the salty taste. He managed to get his course out with no problems. During the halibut course, he felt that Amber wanted to work alone and not as a team. During the sticky toffee pudding course, Amber was cold towards him when he asked for a time. Both teams were named joint losers, and they were asked to nominate one person each. During deliberation, he nominated Amber because she did not trust the blue team, but when the latter accused him of nominating her out of fear, he argued that it was not personal.

Cody was not nominated for elimination, even after Amber said he was too arrogant. While being dismissed, he felt that Amber was not taking credit for her mistakes.[11]

Episode 12[]

Main article: Episode 1912 - There's Magic In Hell?

Back at the dorms, Cody found it difficult to have Amber question his leadership and called her attack from a personal angle. Afterwards, he and Declan went to bed and joked about spooning with each other. The next day, he asked Declan if he played any instruments, only for the latter to say no. The Sous Chefs took the chefs out to see a VIP show of Criss Angel. The chefs saw Angel do his routine to their amazement, and afterwards, Ramsay said there was one more trick Angel had. Angel revealed a 360-spinning box and unveiled it to reveal four models in black jackets, causing him to realize that it was that time of the competition to start now.

During the first Black Jackets Challenge, which was Taste It Now Make It, Cody admitted that this was the first time he was nervous in the competition as he felt that the two purées were root vegetables and decided to grab all the root vegetables he could find and compare tastes. He used sweet potato and cauliflower for the purée, green apples and white onions for the salad, and sea bass for the fish protein. He lost the challenge to Mary Lou and Declan as he did not get the fish correct and was forced to compete in the second challenge.

During the second Black Jackets Challenge, Cody said it did not matter what he got as he felt he could nail that challenge. After seeing Amber's ingredients, he noted that most of the ingredients she received were used in restaurants nowadays, but also knew that they were easy to fuck up. He picked Jimmy's briefcase and received pork chop. During the cooking, he was confident that he would beat the shit out of everyone with his dish. He was the first person to have his dish judged by Ramsay, was confident that his dish would give him a black jacket, and presented his pork chop with polenta, bourbon pickled corn, and pomegranate chorizo vinaigrette. Not only did Ramsay praise the presentation, but he also felt the cook on the pork was spot on. The only criticism Ramsay had with the dish was the overuse of the polenta, but he felt he had it. He won the third black jacket as Ramsay told him that his pork chop dish was the best dish he made in the competition, and he was ecstatic to win a black jacket as he called it a highlight in his career. Cody's arrival at the Black Jacket Lounge was met with joy from Mary Lou as she wanted him to get a black jacket.

During the third Black Jackets Challenge, the black jackets watched the challenge from the lounge, but Cody wondered if Nikki was too calm. When the black jackets celebrated their milestone, he called that night a dream as he wanted to fight against the best.[12]

Episode 13[]

Main article: Episode 1913 - It's Time!

Back at the dorms, a pumped Cody felt that his hard work paid off as he got a black jacket and hugged Declan in celebration. Then, he and Mary Lou met up for a hot tub trip as the latter wanted to relax after a hard day. He said he was proud of Mary Lou for getting the first black jacket of the season and called her a light in the tunnel. Before anything else can happen between them, Amber arrived to join, much to his annoyance as she ruined the mood.

During the 5 Dome Challenge, Cody grabbed halibut and couscous for his dish. After seeing Michael Cimarusti come as a guest judge, he was stunned by the latter's appearance as he reinvented the Californian cooking scene. When he saw Declan's dish, he said it looked good from his perspective, but when Mary Lou dethroned the former, he was surprised as her dish turned things up. He was the fourth person to have his dish judged, said that Cimarusti was a big influence on his cooking and presented his seared halibut with couscous. It was praised for having a modern presentation and having nice flavors but criticized for having a salty halibut, and he failed to dethrone Mary Lou. He lost the challenge to Mary Lou and was punished by participating in recycling day. He was disappointed that Mary Lou did not pick him for the reward, and during the punishment, he and Declan got annoyed with Amber's whining.

During prep, both Declan and Cody felt uneasy about cooking in the red kitchen, and he saw that Amber was in her head again, believing she would be fucked if she kept in that. During dinner service, he was on the meat station. He was happy to be working with stronger chefs for once and was surprised by Mary Lou's vocalness. While he got his dish accepted, he was frustrated with Amber's poor performance as she should not be going down now. Later, he was the only chef not to be on fish when Amber struggled. After service, Ramsay asked the final five to name two people for elimination. During deliberation, he called the decision tough if they judged everything since the start, but Kori nominated him as she felt he lacked a voice. However, he argued that he was the most helpful in challenges and services, and after his worst performance during the second service, he has never cooked a protein Ramsay rejected. Then, he knew there was no excuse for Declan's anger problem.

Cody was not nominated for elimination, and while being dismissed, he felt good to be in the final four.[13]

Episode 14[]

Main article: Episode 1914 - Snuggling with the Enemy

While going back to the dorms, Cody was ecstatic to be in the final four and was happy that he was around people he felt were worthy of that position. As Mary Lou and Cody joined up in the living room, the former said she was scared about him going home, and the two snuggled up together as Declan commented how he had his eyes on Mary Lou since the beginning, comparing him to a dog in heat. Mary Lou said that he made her feel tingly and did not want him to go home yet as the two shared a shower.

Before the 40 Nightclub Portions Challenge, Cody called the nightclub in the dining room insane. He made his version of drunk food, consisting of a watermelon and heirloom tomato gazpacho and Karahage skewers, a dish he has been working on in his life. Also, he ignored the patrons in the dining room. While serving his dish, he flirted with the female guests. Although he was in the top two with Kori, he ultimately lost to the latter. Despite that, he was invited to come on the reward with Kori. They shared a $4,000 shopping spree at Macy's, and won an entire suite of the brand-new Hell's Kitchen Collection of home and kitchen goods. During the reward, he picked out a pink colored suit and thanked Kori for taking him on the reward.

During dinner service, Cody started on the appetizer station but was the first person to run the pass. Ramsay reminded him to keep in control, and although he was nervous, he felt that his career led him to that moment. However, after calling out the first order, he stood around feeling bored, but then, his first quality test came as Sous Chef Christina sent him a risotto that contained orzo instead of Arborio rice. After tasting it, he rejected the risotto and knew that it was that kind of game. Then, he rejected the carbonara as Sous Chef Christina used pappardelle instead of fettucine and seemed to lead well as food was leaving the kitchen. Then, Marino handed him a ticket that had duck on it when it was no longer on the menu, but he did not realize that as he called out the order as written. Kori knew that was wrong as Ramsay warned him to study the ticket as he gets it in his hands. While he knew he had to step the fuck up, he noticed that Mary Lou served a slightly overcooked salmon. However, Ramsay had to prompt him to bring her to the front and tell her about the salmon, and Mary Lou could not hear the power in his voice. After his turn, Ramsay told him that although he caught the first two sabotages, he got scrambled in the end. He went onto fish during Mary Lou's turn, and on Kori's turn, he was reassigned to meat. However, he saw that Kori left the station in a complete mess. When he sent up his Wellingtons, Ramsay saw they were undercooked. While he was forced to refire the Wellingtons, he argued that Kori left him in a mess of a station and accused her of setting him up to fail. When he sliced into his refire, they were cold in the center, and he wanted another three minutes, something Kori did not want him to have. As Ramsay called it a meltdown, he called it embarrassing as he was getting hit by somebody else's inconsistency. Fortunately, the third time was accepted.

After service, Ramsay asked the final four to name one person they each wanted to go up against in the finale. During deliberation, Cody wanted to go up against Mary Lou as she had a lot of fire inside, but Declan named him and Kori as the two people that struggled on meat. Mary Lou remarked how she saw no presence from him on the pass, Kori felt that he should leave that night based on his poor performance, and Declan admitted that he just called out the orders with nothing else. However, he argued that he heard from them and felt that was good enough, but Mary Lou felt he was not commanding even though he felt his service was better than Kori, calling her the catalyst of everything that went wrong for him. However, Kori argued that once he went on meat, it was his responsibility.

At elimination, Cody was asked who he wanted to go up against in the finale, and why he deserved to be in the finale. He wanted to go up against Mary Lou because both showed the most growth in their respective teams and called himself a pillar for the blue team. Ultimately, he was eliminated as Ramsay felt he was not ready to run a brigade that large. However, Ramsay told him to keep his jacket as a memory of everything he achieved in the competition and told him that his door was open for him. During his exit interview, he received a retrospective montage of his time in the competition. He received the portrait burning sequence at the end of the episode.

Ramsay's comment: "Throughout this competition, Cody was never shy about his abilities. But when it came to running the pass, he was just a bit shy. So, unfortunately, it was time to say goodbye." [14]

Cody was one of the seven chefs that returned for the final dinner service. He was Mary Lou's first pick, the first pick overall, and he wanted to stand behind her. He was followed by Nikki, Amber, and Lauren.[15] Back at the dorms, he was enamored with Mary Lou taking charge and was assigned to the garnish station.

During prep, Cody managed to calm Mary Lou by talking with her and declared that he would do anything to make sure she won before checking with Nikki on the scoring of the redfish. As he and Mary Lou began working together more, Amber joked that the latter would make him sign a prenup if they ever got married. Before service began, he was determined to see her win.

During dinner service, Cody was on the garnish station. At one point, he was seen communicating with Nikki on the appetizer order, but when Amber forgot a chicken for the entrée order, he got pissed because it was making Mary Lou look bad. When he saw Amber going back into her head, he told her to get it together. After Amber served raw chicken, Mary Lou had him and her switch stations, much to the latter's annoyance as he got his chicken accepted. At the end of service, he wanted Mary Lou to win thanks to her improvements before calling a successful woman a turn on. Mary Lou eventually lost the finale to Kori.[16]

Trivia[]

Quotes[]

  • (After Ramsay decided to eliminate Eliott) "Fuck yeah."
  • (About Marc throwing everybody under the bus during elimination) "When you get up there, it should be about you and what's going on with you right now! And the FIRST thing I hear and the reason I shake my head and the reason I wanna talk to you right now is because all I heard was 'they were doing this, and they were doing that, and they were doing this and that doesn't have ANYTHING to do with this!... and you're fighting against your team, then? So, that's what I wanna know right now! I'm not forcing shit, I just needa know if I should worry about you right now!"
  • (About Syann using the punishment pass on him) "I will remember that."
  • (About Lauren's clear hypocrisy) "Huh... what an interesting statement!... Okay, see how long you're here for, judging by THAT level of hard work!"
  • (About Marc's bullshit excuse to throw blame towards Amber) "Woooooow... you're gonna call out Amber?... YOU'RE gonna call her toxic? I think the only thing you need is a motherfucking mirror, man."
  • (Confronting Marc's inexplicable statement about why he's being nominated) "So are you saying all of us that voted for you are A. Wrong, and B. That what we are saying, is only politics? Because- I'm not done! I'm not cutting you off. I AM TALKING RIGHT NOW, do not do that shit!"
  • (About Marc deflecting blame onto him) "I think Marc is correct in the fact that I did not teach him how to do it, because he did not perform it the way I told him to do it."
  • (On why he should stay after his first nomination) "Chef, I'm very team-oriented. The team is incredibly important to me, and I've been trying to keep it alive since the beginning. Outside of that, I think I am an incredible leader and I am adjusting every single day more and more. I think I have what it takes to run Hell's Kitchen Lake Tahoe, Chef."
  • (After being eliminated) "Although it is bittersweet that I am leaving today, I can't tell you what this experience has done to me. I came here confident and unapologetically mean, but the lows were definitely there, and I've definitely gotten my ass kicked a few times. However, I've grown so much since I've been here, and the highs are definitely unforgettable. This is something I will never forget for the rest of my life. I've met so many great chefs and a bunch of really great human beings who I plan on being friends with for a really long time. One thing I do know is that I will never stop climbing. My confidence has been reestablished. It's only greatness from here."
