The Alcohol Challenge is a recurring challenge in Hell’s Kitchen.
Overview[]
The purpose of this challenge is to showcase the chef’s ability to create stunning dishes with alcohol.
History[]
Season 14[]
Episode 8 was the first time the challenge occurred. It happened when there were eleven chefs left, six on the blue team, and five on the red team. Both teams had 45 minutes to cook their dishes using either beer, wine, and liquor as their base. After time was up, Ramsay asked each team to name three chefs to present their dishes. The red team picked Michelle, Alison, and Meghan. The blue team picked Nick, Adam, and Josh. Joining Ramsay in the judging was John Ratzenberger and Marino and each dish was judged on a 1-5 rating, with a total of 15 points. Michelle scored 11 points over Nick's 10 on the beer round, while Alison and Adam both scored 10's on the wine round. Lastly, Josh's 11 beat out Meghan's 9, and the blue team won the challenge 31-30. They went on a trip to the Moonlight Rollerway for a roller skate experience, and had lunch at the Golden Road Brewery. The red team was forced to do laundry day.[1]
Season 20[]
Episode 2 happened when there were eighteen chefs left, and was done as an individual challenge before the first service. However, it was also an elimination challenge as Ramsay warned the chefs someone would be eliminated for having the worst overall dish. Everyone had 45 minutes to cook their alcohol based dishes using one of the nine proteins provided by the Sous Chefs. Before judging the dishes, Ramsay asked both teams to come up with a top three in five minutes. The red team picked Victoria, Megan, and Brynn. The blue team picked Antonio, Steve, and Matthew. Both Brynn and Steve were the best of their teams, and Ramsay decided to name them joint-winners, giving each a Punishment Pass. Then, Ramsay gave the two the power to name the bottom three of their teams. Brynn singled out Ava, Keanu, and Emily in the red team. Steve singled out Matthew, Antonio, and Alex in the blue team. After looking over the dishes, Ramsay nominated Ava and Matthew from their teams before eliminating the former.[2]
Trivia[]
